2012 is a business

I recorded this video 2 days ago and posted it on 2012 Explained, but why not make a quick post about it? I recorded this because I still get a lot of emails regarding 2012 and this is the most complete answer I can give without going into too much details. I mean, there’s a new theory everyday regarding 2012 and there’s no way I can study each of them and I don’t want to anyway. I feel the subject has been covered here at Daily Common Sense with my articles, but also with the comments and the forum.

The most complete and straight forward answer I can give to “Is 2012 true?” and “Are we gonna die?” is the following: “It’s a business”. People are building businesses around 2012 with a complete business model and the goal is to generate money by spreading fear. It does work pretty well. Anyway, I won’t go into details here as it is what I’m talking about in the video. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

This is my first time visiting your site. I was googling magnetic pole shifts because my friend liv (am I supposed to put the first letter of her nick name in caps?) brought it up, and I was wondering how much scientific data was available on the subject. Anyhoo, I love the video blog and I think that your opinion about the business aspect is probably spot on. Try not to be so nervous in your next video, although it is some what charming.

A good video, though as jamie said, i too got the impression that you seemed a little nervous, or perhaps not nervous is the word but rather unprepared.
Btw, the sound is a bit scurry, this mostly comes from recording in large open rooms and not having any extra equipment, maybe you could try to use a microphone next time? So we can more easily hear what you say:P (I that bug microphone that usely comes along with webcams are also good to use, just to snip it on your shirt and then record)

Also, from one clever(?) guy to another clever guy:P Metaphors more easily get your point through rather then having to directly explaining everything.

Yeah, unprepared might be a better choice of words as I admin I didn't really prepared. I just felt like talking about this and did it on the spot.

I am still experimenting with the camera. It's an HD cam and I think I found the optimal settings. I wasn't satisfied with the video quality of this video, but next ones will surely be better.

I am taking note of that mic suggestion, I will try to use an external mic next time. I will also try to make next videos more "formal", thanks for all the feedback and suggestions, it's appreciated.

    Hi!
I just wanted to tell you how glad I am I found your website! I tend to not believe into those "apocalypse" theories, and I didn't think 2012 was true; sadly, I believe internet helps those theories grow bigger and stronger. When I searched for a sensible article on 2012 the first time, a while ago, it took me almost 2 hours before I could find a good website with scientific information about it – information that didn't include arguments like "but the Mayas speak the truth!!!! So STFU!!!!" I added your link to my favorites, and it will be one more I can pass on to friends and others who get afraid of 2012. If this teaches us anything, it's that we don't know when we're going to die, wether it's all together or each on our own, so better just live our days as if each one was the last! (I hope I'm clear, english isn't my language) Thanks!

im 18 years old so imagine my fear of the "doomsday" on december 21 2012. ha. to be honest i have not been able to stop thinking about it everyday, to a point where it disrupts me at work, and at school. In your video you stated people email you saying how theyve been up everynight crying over this, well you just met one more of those people. ha. i've been on the internet for at least 3 hours now just researching all of this. and me being so young, of corse i had believed all of it. i just wanted to tell you how thankful i am for finding your website. After i had watched your video and read your article, i can honestly say im relieved. unfortuneltey im still on the fence of it all, but after finding your website, im about to fall off on the "2012 is a hoax" side .:] im sure you'll be recieveing more emails or comments from me as this topic goes on. i just want to thank you for putting your opinion out there. it deffinatley moved me!

Hey, I was the same way until I saw this sight. I saw a show on 2012 on the History Channel. I used to worry constantly, and actually, it has caused me a lot of health problems — and I'm only 21! So, relax, 2012 IS a hoax. There was an article on CNN the other day about it, and they interviewed a few Mayan scholars, who all agreed that 2012 is nothing to fear and wouldn't have been to the Mayans and that people are using it to make money. So relax! Enjoy being young :)

Besides this website I advised you to check on the NASA official website.
In reference to this topic I quote the answer I found

Can you please explain the polar shift theory? Supposedly the earth's crust does a 180 degree rotation around the core in a matter of days if not hours. Furthermore, this is stated to be a regular occurrence in Earth's geologic history and has to do with our solar system dipping beneath the galactic equator. Is there any merit to it?

I will try to explain. This is one of the craziest lies that is being promulgated by the 2012 conspiracy theorists — worse in many ways than the Nibiru hoax. It is totally absurd, and completely untrue, but still the story spreads and is frightening people. First, on the matter of a sudden reversal in the rotation of Earth: this is impossible. It has never happened and never will. There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, these scam artists sometimes pull a bait-and-shift to try to fool you. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly with a magnetic reversal roughly every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn't cause any harm to life on Earth. A magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia, anyway. But they frighten you by falsely claiming that a magnetic reversal is coming soon (like in 2012) and that this is the same as, or will trigger, a reversal of rotational poles. The bottom line is: (1) Rotation direction and magnetic polarity are not related. (2) There is no reason to expect a reversal of magnetic polarity any time soon, or to anticipate any bad effects on life when it does eventually happen. (3) A sudden shift in rotational pole with disastrous consequences is impossible. Also, none of this has anything to do with the galactic equator or any of the other nonsense about 2012 that appears on these Internet conspiracy theory sites.

I am the same way as you Kimberly and I am 26 years old. Now that I have a child it makes it worse because I wonder wow 2012 but my baby is so young. It takes over my life as well and makes me more distant from people around me because its always on my mind. This site has helped me as well, in the recent dead bird and fish news flash it really made me worried but this blog has really made a lot of sense.

I wouldn't like to see the world end in 2012. Right now I'm working hard for my future and if as soon as I get my degree the world is going to and I'm gonna be mad. What would be a point of working hard now then? I hope 2012 will be just like 2000 – everyone gets scareb but nothing happens.

I want to thank this site for the effort it is making to combat all these unfounded fears, and to try at least to to create a balance for all the lies being told to make money. Ben is right when he says, that if you are that way inclined (what i would call the more vulnerable person in society) then nothing is going to stop you from believing the lies being told about the end of the world in 2012, but at least somebody has to make the effort to help those who might just listen to the truth.

I run a spiritual forum, and other community sites, and i had similar to this last year with the LHC, where some of my members were terrified of what was going to happen, and i had a hard time trying to talk some members down into the realms of common sense and away from all the propaganda and fringe elements who for their own agenda, want us to believe we were on the edge of doom. The more it came out how children were going to school in tears thinking they were going to die on that switch on day, the more angry i became, and i can see its happening again over 2012.

I really cant work out what the hell is wrong with people wanting to make stuff up like this, to make the more vulnerable fear so much just to sell things. It's like some terrible disease that society has caught feed by the lack of censorship on the net, where anybody can say whatever they like, some, it as to be said, like just to scare people while they sit laughing at you while you suffer. I could go into detail about the twisted lies built around nostrodamus quatrains, (his four line poems) that so called experts have deliberately mis-translated,even adding in their own lines to make things fit,and when the predicted event doesn't happen, they conveniently move the event to another year (this astoriod killing us all was meant to happen in 2000, and when it doesnt happen in 2012, they will move it to 2015 when we have an unusual number of eclipses that year, supposed to be the second coming of christ too "yawn!") I could go into detail about the mayan belief of how the end of the great cycle is a massive celebration for them to have made it to the end of that cycle, and nowhere does it mention the end of the world. Its all lies, and its my belief that we should all protest to stop them from continuing to do this to society. As this gets closer there will be casualties, just like with the LHC scare where at least one young girl committed suicide rather than face that switch on day.

We cant let this happen again. Like me, you can spread the word, put the link to this site in your blog, in your forum siggys, talk about the hoax and money making scam where ever you can. Combat the lies and the fear with the truth.

    Regards

I went and looked up the mayan calendar when I first heard about this a few years ago, and its a calendar, not a time lock doomsday device, not an atomic trigger, not a gateway to fire from above.. its a calenday, and when it clicks over, another outer ring will click around. Look it up, the new unit begins with B. its less exciting than the odometer in your car clicking back to 0000000.

actually i want to comment this in two way's, first off why call 2012 a conspiracy, it is not, numerous people believe and have seen proof in prophecy's made a long time ago, and it could bloody well be entirely true what those profecy's stated, still there is no conspiracy there. It simply might or might not happen. Secondly there is a discussion about ppl making money using fear of this profecy, still it's repulsive, but not a conspiracy. So pls get your act together, atack people who make money based on other peoples fear. because that's distatefull at the least. (and here we can say those ppl are no more or less bad then all major companies doing exactly the same, just not based on 2012 but on everyday life) and if u see this a conspiracy, i guess something is actually wrong with u, but that's my opinion.

    Great explanation.

People making a profit of of this fear is exactly what Big Pharma and their surrogates, Government, are doing with drugs and vaccines, especially seasonal flu vaccine. The message from all concerned with 2012 and Flu is "Be afraid, be very afraid."

One must be mindful, in both instances, that this world is not all there is. There is no reason to be afraid. Especially not afraid enough to injure oneself.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of what is going to happen. From what I'm reading in your Blogs, I'm convinced the majority of your readers realize, and common sense tells you, there is "something" to this 2012 thing. Fear is the easiest emotion to deal with stories like this, however, its usually takes more effort to find the truth. I'm not saying the theories circulating out there are all true, nor am I saying they are all false. I think rather than blaming others for somehow tricking everyone or ripping people off, we should really look at what the phenomenon of 2012 can be.

Most of the older people I've talked to have never seen so much hype about an unknown event in their lifetimes. It may be the internet allowing the thoughts of us all to be heard by so many. Whatever the case, the fact remains that this "event" is causing everyone of us on this planet to wake up and realize… "This could be all over for us all." How we choose to come to terms with that differs within each of us. At the very least, maybe we can all switch gears for a minute and live every moment with a little more life, a little more love, and a little more hope.

We are all on the same path. Good or bad we are all going to die. We are human beings, not human "doings" or "gettings" or "workings". We are more spiritual than physical. More emotional than impassive. I think through what we have created as a society as acceptable behavior (money conquers all, he who has the most toys wins, competitions opposing one another rather than joining forces to unite) has rendered us spiritually and emotionally crippled to deal with a catastrophe like what might be headed our way.

In conclusion, maybe we should use this worldwide topic of concern to better ourselves from within. This won't cost any of you a dime. Just reflect on what it means to you, what you can do different today to be happier inside tomorrow. The 2012 topic is very powerful because we are all giving it our energy. Imagine how great it would be to have the power to change the things that need changing in our world. Forget fear, use this to create a real change in our hearts first, then our minds.

No, I'm not a holy roller, tree hugger, or abductee. I've done my own research into this subject for years now. I've been through the fear, the blame, and the denial. I have a PhD in physics and have scientifically experienced the phenomenon of inter-dimensional energy forms. It is my belief we (the human race) have a chance to do something extraordinary in our lifetimes. Something humans have been trying to do for thousands and thousands of years. Are we ready to evolve into something better?

this is truely poweful thinking if we could all think like this the world would be such a better place.. if we go tomorrow or not.. we can go united.. caring about what gives us life love and the spirt and if we do go.. at least we can go happy and all as one it would be a remarkable and phenomenal thing.I believe 2012 is as possible as it is not.. i believe it is a theorie and lots of theories have been false.. but it can still be a huge wake up call to all of us.

This is how my husband and I think…too bad there are so many people out there so self-absorbed that words like these can not penetrate them…apathy is the worlds problem. We shouldn't be making war, we should be making ways to heal our planet so we can overcome our water and food crisis.

Fascinating and I'd like to take it one step further…what if our spiritual and emotional cripplings are the catastrophe rather than what prevents us from dealing with it. What if our "human lack of nature" is driving us to destruction. What if our lack of understanding how our spiritual and emotional abilites 'create" is so out of whack that we are creating chaos 'subconsciously…

Is it not true that the our sheer observation of life is creation it self. Google or Youtube the "observation problem."

I kind of think this something chaotic is required for our re-birth into a higher developed species…especially since matter is nothing and something at the same time.

personally,i think your head is in the clouds man. have you seen society these days? theres muggings, rape, murder, and the people who commit it don't hardly lose sleep over it. unity, its just a dream. humanity is too ignorant, too self obsessed to unite for the good of the whole. take away the illusion of order;law, government, they only mean something because we choose to give them meaning. take them away and humanity, our entire species,is just another type of animal. i just turned 15 and even i see this. take away "order",and we will lookout for no1 but ourselves and maybe a couple close friends. the thing is,though we may have a few friends,we won't unite as a whole. we have too many differences to accept among eachother.humanity is iggnorant, but unfortunatly,it isn't bliss as some would like to think.we may strive for unity, but we will never achieve it. there will always be someone or something keeping us from it.

From my point of view the core of all this is the individuation process (Carl Jung).
Mass manipulation have been existing for centuries in order to make money out of the naives.
Individuation process and the time to undestand ourself is a big business too.

After reading your site for a while, I had wondered who was the source, despite the short bio posted. The video has let me know that you do match the description in the bio (as there was no proof prior to the video), but also lively and extremely cute. As helpful as that may be, that also made it a bit harder to understand what you were saying. The speech content was vastly inferior to your writing, probably because you didn't write a script and it was a bit rushed. The audio needs a touch-up for clarity, especially a compressor. The bare walls need a bit of help or at least some content similar to the site and to your own interests. And perhaps some of my difficulty in understanding the content of your presentation is because of a fascination over your yummy mustache. Well, any way you look at it, the video is quite helpful. :) The video does lend additional support to your writing, but its not a substitute.
