The LifeStraw - safe drinking water to the world’s poor
Posted by: | Comments
Tonicgen.com posted a very interesting article on a technology that would help provide safe drinking water to the world’s poor. That technology is called the LifeStraw and here’s a quick description of it:
The LifeStraw is a portable water purifier for prevention of common diarrhoeal disease – and can be carried around for easy access to safe and clean drinking water. It is deemed so innovative that it received the Saatchi & Saatchi Award for World-Changing Ideas this past February.
This really is an innovative technology and is a concrete solution to a complex problem!

Eat chocolate and cut your risk of heart disease?
Posted by: | CommentsAn interesting article surfaced today on cnn.com regarding scientists in the UK looking for 150 women willing to eat chocolate for a year as part of a study. Don’t worry, it’s not a “Supersize me II”, the women aren’t expected to eat only chocolate for a year; it will be introduced into their diet.
The goal of the trial at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, eastern England is to test whether a natural compound found in cocoa could cut the risk of heart disease among women with diabetes.
The chocolate used in the study is a special type of chocolate :
A Belgian confectionist has created the special chocolate bar containing high levels of flavonoids — a plant compound that has been shown to reduce heart risk factors — to be used in the experiment. Soy, another natural source of flavonoids, has also been added to the bar.
And the hypothesis behind that study is:
“The hypothesis of this exciting study is that flavonoids may improve the level of protection against heart disease over and above that provided by conventional drugs,” said Dr. Ketan Dhatariya, a consultant in diabetes at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
I guess there are a lot of worst studies to be part of. Actually, eating chocolate for a whole year with the only goal of helping science is kind of interresting…
UK readers, jump on that one!
You can’t escape your destiny, period.
Posted by: | CommentsI read an interesting article today titled Darwinist-Materialist Misconceptions About The Human Genome Project and I think it’s worth commenting on because there are a couple of things I really do not agree with. In that particular article, from someone selling a book of course, there’s an argumentation about the fact that God is controlling your destiny and that there’s not much you can do about it: You are programmed to live the life you live.
So, first of all, let’s have a look the core of this article:
This is true for everyone and every event. For instance, God has created everyone with a certain lifetime and everyone’s moment of death is determined as to its location, time and form in the sight of God. If, in the years to come, someone’s lifetime is extended with timely interventions in the genes, this would not mean that this event defeated that person’s destiny. It simply means the following: God gave this man a long life and He made the completion of gene mapping a means for his life being long. The discovery of the gene map, that person’s living in that period and that person’s life being extended by scientific means are all his destiny. All is determined in the sight of God before this person is born into the world.
Similarly, someone whose fatal sickness is cured through the discoveries made within the scope of this project has again not changed his destiny. That is because it is this person’s destiny to recover from this illness by means of this project. Consequently, completion of the human genome project and the fact that man will be able to intervene in the genetic makeup, do not mean confronting the destiny created by God. On the contrary, in this way, mankind follows the developments created for it by God, and explores and benefits from the information created by God. If man lives 120 years thanks to these scientific developments, this is surely a lifetime decreed for him by God, that is why he lives so long.
While I don’t have any problems with religion and people believing in God, I think sometimes it goes too far. I don’t like how everything seems so clear and right. Like “God created everyone with a certain lifetime and everyone’s moment of death is determined as to its location, time and form”. What if it’s not the way God (assuming it exist) is dealing with us? How can you be so sure of such affirmation? I think it’s just speaking of something nobody has any idea about. The only thing we can do is PRESUME that’s the way God created us: With a start and end time bound to a location. You can’t say for sure that’s how it is.
Then comes science has not much to do with us living longer, it’s all God’s will. So basically, a thousand years ago, God didn’t give a damn about people so that’s why they weren’t making it further than 40 years old? Now, science, medical breakthrough and quality of life are all factors helping us staying alive longer, but that’s only because of God’s will? God is feeling a little generous with us so he allows us to play with DNA and everything? I think it’s a little more complicated than that and I believe we have a certain form of control over our life. I’m sorry but I don’t feel my life is being programmed. I feel it’s just a poor attempt at tying God with modern science. I’m not trying to kill the idea of God, who am I to say such a thing? I just don’t feel right about this theory that you have a certain destiny and if for a reason you go out of your predetermined path, well God will probably allow it. It just sounds like we can do whatever we want, God is just feeling generous these days. So, if we can do whatever we want without God interveigning in our business these days, does that mean we don’t have a destiny after all? Now we go the opposite direction with the same argument.
This is a poor explanation of God Vs. Science in my opinion, but you’re the judge. I just feel the author was trying to explain the relation between God, science and destiny but his argumentation is kind of killing the idea of destiny.
You think I’m pushing it too far? I’ll end with this quote:
Consequently, the discovery of the human genetic makeup by no means implies man’s challenge to his destiny, and it never can. Every incident, every act of speech and development are all predetermined in the sight of God according to a certain destiny. So are scientific developments and the innovations they will introduce. God is All-Knowing, and All-Encompassing.
Before and after pictures of weight loss programs
Posted by: | CommentsI was doing my daily search for scams and I came across a website promising weight loss miracles. Yes, another one. If you want to have a look, here’s the website: Wu Yi Source. They promise you’ll loose weight simply by drinking tea which is a lot better than taking 10 pills per day. What about 30 minutes of exercise per day? Well, they don’t mention that really because it’s a proven fact that the easiest way to this day to loose weight is to take pills. Anyway, the point is not to say it’s a scam as it’s like every other weight loss program.
What is funny with this program is that they completely laugh at people with the traditional before and after photos. Let’s have a look:
Here we have Brook before and after:
Here we have Michele before and after:
Of course they lost like 30 pounds, they are not the same person! How can someone be stupid enough to believe these things? You definitely know you are being scammed when the before and after pictures aren’t the same person! I am still amazed. More importantly, how can someone put these pictures online thinking they are solid proof for their product?
If someone thinks these are the same persons, well I’d like to hear your arguments!
Tesla Purple Energy Shield Scam
Posted by: | Comments
Here’s today scam. It’s another great product aimed at healing yourself and regulating the energy around you. This amazing product is brought to you by Life Technology and is really one of the best scam I’ve seen lately.
What is it?
I would like you to have a look at these quotes from Life Technology website to understand what the Tesla Purple Energy Shield is all about:
Life Technology™ are priviledged to have been given exclusive access to some of Tesla’s papers and with the assistance of a US electronic engineering company, we have been able to update and upgrade the original design of The Tesla Personal Oscillator. The final product, The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ combines the original Tesla principles of harmonic oscillation and design considerations with sophisticated state of the art electronic componentry.
100 years after Tesla’s original invention of The Tesla Personal Oscillator, Life Technology™ have created The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™, a device whos uniquely synergistic effects are profoundly more powerful and effective than the original Tesla device.
The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ outer shell is made of aluminium, which is first anodised (electrolytic oxidation) and then colored. The spin of the atoms and electrons of the aluminium is thus changed in such a way, that The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ is said to vibrate in resonance with the fundamental energy (Chi, Prana, Orgon) of the universe. The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ coating was developed by Ralph Bergstresser after a patent and from the knowledge / information and ideas of Nikola Tesla, with whom he worked in the 1940s. With anodising, the field of the plating is changed and interacts with tachyons. The surface of the plating has a unique crystal-structure.
The chemical composition of the outer purple shell is the same as that of rubies and sapphires, which also consist of aluminium oxide. We know that rubies give energy and thus were called “life-stones” in the Middle-Ages.
Amazingly, the Tesla Purple Energy Shield can be used for:
Protection against EMF and electromagnetic radiation , Increases energy levels, Heals on all levels of mind body and soul ,Delays fatigue, Increases physical strength and stamina, Enhances quality of sleep, Retards aging, DNA repair, Completely clears negative energies, Acts as a 24/7 psychic shield, Energises food and water, Beneficial energy for animals and plants, Improves intuition, Assists connection to the divine source, Increases psychic abilities, Enhances meditation and prayer, Facilitates ascension, Increases synchronicity, Enhances manifesting skills, Facilitates astral projection and lucid dreaming, Use as a pendulum in chakra and aura balancing, Use as a transmitter pendulum in distant healing, Use as a tuning pendulum in radionics, Use as a pendulum for radiesthesia and dowsing.
The Scam
This does remind me of a certain Alex Chiu. Yes, that guy selling Immortality rings. When I look at the list of what the Purple Energy Shield can do, I’m amazed of seeing “Retards again, DNA repair, assists connection to the divine source, facilitate ascension, etc.” At least they won’t say that will make you immortal, but for the price you pay for this little gem it would actually be nice.

Where can u buy condoms and how much do they cost?
Posted by: | CommentsThis is the Yahoo! Answer of the day. I found that while browsing Yahoo! Answer today and I was quite surprised. Here are the details from the person asking the question:
i really need to know cuz well u get the idea but what kind of stores are they at and are they expensive or cheap like how much usually. store exapmles target, walgreens any places like that do they sell them let me know
We really have a problem there. I mean, if there is something I thought everyone was aware of is where to buy condoms. If there are still people not knowing that, we definitively have a society problem. I just thought that was interesting and worth posting.
It seems there’s still a lot of work to do in term of sexual education with teenagers…
I ate 4,000 calories today and didn’t exercise.

I’m a big fan of Yahoo! Answers. There’s funny questions to laugh about and also a lot of valuable answers. It all depend what you search for. For people not knowing what Yahoo! Answer is, it is basically a place where anyone can ask a question and the community answers your question the best they can. I found a gem today and I’m providing you with the question here:
This morning, I got up and had a Slim Fast 250 calorie drink in a can and then worked on the computer. I have a home office where I do photo retouching and graphic design. I sometimes sit at my computer for hours without getting up off the chair. I bought a gym membership but haven’t went since three days ago.
I was doing really good eating wise today until at 10 pm when I had a massive hunger strike. I had only eaten about 1,800 calories total (the slim fast drink and meal bar, dannon fusion yogurt smoothie drink and a sensible 700 cal dinner). I went to Taco Bueno and got a meal plus another taco. It didn’t seem like a lot at the time.
I was curious after I ate it and looked online to see that I had eaten a total of 2,200 calories! I couldn’t believe how many I ate without thinking about it. Is there anything I can do to prevent this overwhelming of hunger from happening again? Please no cruel answers. I need to lose weight for my health and need to stop this self sabatoge!
Is it just me or there’s nothing to answer there? How to prevent this overwhelming of hunger? Damn just don’t get a 2,200 calories meal at 10 pm. What I find quite funny is:
I went to Taco Bueno and got a meal plus another taco. It didn’t seem like a lot at the time.
Aright, is it just me or a meal + another taco does seem a lot? When I order a McDonald’s meal and an extra burger at 10 pm, I do know it’s not good. Don’t tell me she didn’t know what to expect. Don’t just a taco was ok? Or just the meal? Did you really have to order all that to satisfy your hunger strike?
Sometimes people post funny stuff on Yahoo Answers. You get your answer just by asking the question. You’ll tell me the real question was how to prevent this overwhelming of hunger from happening again and not how to loose weight. I agree, but there’s no secret there, I know a lot of people who lost a lot of weight and guess what? Eat well, exercise well and a bit of self control. I guess when you really want…
In fact the person asked the question knowing what the answers would be…Because there’s really no secret and it’s common sense.
Maybe I can’t understand as I’ve never had any weight problems and I can mostly eat what I want without worrying, but I honestly think it’s a ridiculous question considering the context. I know it’s hard to loose weight and it’s not what this is about. It’s about common sense: Eat 2,200 extra calories when there’s really an easy way of eating less(like just a taco or just ONE meal) I don’t think you can complain much.
