Predictify: A little something to keep predictions’ gurus busy
Posted by: | CommentsIf anyone likes to predict stuff and is good at it, try this website: Predictify. It’s not as fun as predicting the end of the world and stuff like that but you can get paid for it. The website offers you a list of things for you to try to predict and if you are right, you can even get paid. In fact, Predictify describes itself as follows:
Studies have shown that large groups of regular people are often more accurate than a small group of experts at predicting the outcome of future events. Predictify is a prediction platform that harnesses this collective wisdom.
Predictify provides a simple, fun way to engage in current and future newsworthy topics. You can research, discuss and predict the outcomes of real-world events, challenge your friends to private prediction contests, build a reputation based on your accuracy, and even get paid real money when you’re right. Best of all, it’s free – no points or bets required. Click on the Predict tab above to get started.
So I can get paid, right? But how much? Well, according to the website:
By accurately predicting the outcome of Premium questions. Predictify charges Premium question-askers a fee of $1 per response and shares a portion of this fee (the pot) with the predictors based on their accuracy.
So, the price you get paid depends if it’s a premium question, how many answers there are and how many good answers there are. I haven’t tried the concept so I can’t tell if it’s worth it but it’s certainly a nice thing to try if you are a guru in a core sector like finance.
I think it’s a nice initiative and concept, but at the same time there’s probably a big company behind that trying to use the community to make money. Let’s admit it, you probably don’t get paid a fortune for your answers but I’m pretty sure the information extracted from the community’s answers is really worth it and worth a lot of money.
Anyway, see this as an entertainment if you like that kind of stuff.
10 Easy ways NOT to make money online
Posted by: | Comments
I’m really sick of all these “How to make money online”, “10 steps to make money online”, “How to monetize your blog” stuff because it’s always the same story over and over again. There’s no science to make money online: Write QUALITY content, update regularly and get involved in your niche/social networks! Crap = No traffic & Quality = traffic. I’m amazed there’s not much articles about what NOT to do in order to make money online. That’s what really matters, you can do a lot of stuff right, but are you doing a lot of wrong stuff? So here’s my list of 10 easy ways NOT to make money online:
- Blog for money if you are not an experienced webmaster: You’ll spend more time thinking how to monetize your website than to add quality content. It’s a sure fail.
- Write because you’ve fixed yourself a X post a day quota: Trust me, you’ll loose more readers by writing a crappy article than you’ll loose just by waiting one more day to write a quality article. Don’t write if you don’t know what to write about, it’s a bad article guaranteed.
- Spend the entire day watching your Adsense Account: Stop refreshing your Adsense account every 2 minutes in the hope of earning a couple more cents! Spend that 1 hour you loose on Adsense everyday to write.
- Assuming your blog design is not important:Your blog design is important! Not more than content, but that is what will give your blog a unique touch and will help people to remember you. Make it look professional.
- Spend your day on Digital Point for tips: 95% of users on Digital Point don’t make a single dollar per day and are there because they think making money online is easy. You’ll mostly get as an answer to your tips requests: “Get in the finance/medical to make money”, “Get involved in a more paying niche”, “Fill your site with Ads”, etc. False, just be the best at what you do and the rest will come.
- Not getting involved in social networks: Social networks are full of webmasters and making friends in your niche is what will make your website earn credibility and a good reputation. Contributing to the community will ensure you a strong position and people will want to link to your website. Don’t underestimate the power of social networks.
- Build links to build links: Stop thinking only about backlinks! It’s true it is important to get good rankings in Google, but write quality content, get involved in social networks and backlinks will come.
- Steal content: If you have to steal content to write your articles then you will never get a top player in your niche. You can quotes other websites, get article ideas from other websites but write your own content. That’s the only way to be a top player: Having something unique to offer.
- Fill your page with Ads: Until you can earn really decent money from your website, don’t fill it with ads. What’s the point of ruining the user experience for 1$ per day instead of 0.50$. You’ll have trouble earning credibility with that kind of approach.
- Don’t talk about your website: You have to think your blog/website is the best in your niche. With that approach you’ll feel confident to talk about it, refer people to your articles and spread the word about how your blog is the best thing since sliced bread. Talk about your website, that’s the only way to get traffic!
I hope this helped and that it sounded a little bit different that what’s available on every “Make money online” website. These are really honest tips from a honest blogger. I’ve made some of these mistakes and it doesn’t pay off.
Be clean, play fair, be a leader in your niche.
John Chow’s insult to honest bloggers
Posted by: | CommentsJohn Chow is a legend in “making money on the internet”. He actually recently claimed on T.V. that he was making 30k a month with his online business, which is mainly johnchow.com. I’m pretty sure it’s close to the true numbers as he’s really known to make a lot of money from his websites. Anyway, the point of this article is to express how I feel he is insulting every honest blogger out there with one of his recent post. He posted an article on viral videos and how it can help you drive traffic to your website. He actually made a viral video which is total crap. While being a working way of driving traffic to your website, I think it has to be done in a very clever way to be efficient. Obviously, he didn’t.
The video is at the end of the post if you can’t wait to see it and don’t want to read the rest of this post. But, rest assured, I couldn’t watch more that 60 seconds of the video so you can wait. For every honest blogger out there, the video is an insult. I personally try to post intelligent articles with good content every 1-3 days. I get extremely positive comments and this guy comes in, making 30K a month, and does the worst video I’ve ever seen to promote his website. Honestly, the video is a total pain. He probably got a couple more readers with that video just because he is “John Chow”. I would have lost all reputation by making this video, but unfortunately, he’s still quietly making 30k a month. Maybe he’s more clever than all of us and tried to make the shittiest video available so I would link to his website. In this case it worked, but it’s still an insult for all of us.
Here’s the video for your non-entertainment:
Can you make money with online survey jobs?
Posted by: | CommentsThere’s a lot of opportunities on the Internet today to make money and sadly there’s a lot of scams going on. An interesting way of making money can be to take Online Surveys and get paid for them. Is it a scam? Yes and no. I’ve made some research on the subject and the truth is that some companies are totally crap while some other offer good money making opportunities.
What to look for in Online Survey jobs?
Look for programs that have plenty of surveys that you can take. Even if the survey only pays a small cash amount, these small amounts can quickly add up and you can make substantial money. The more surveys you fill with quality, the more you’ll be selected for more opportunities with higher paying rate. Make sure you read reviews on the internet before selecting a survey company. I can’t point you to any in particular as there’s quite a lot but you can easily find websites dedicated to online survey reviews with a quick Google search.
Watch out for scams!
It’s so easy to get caught in a scam with online surveys. There’s so many persons signing up for online surveys without doing a background check and guess what: They never receive a check! There’s a lot of business competing in that sector and some are really small business run by a single person. These businesses are the one to avoid. You want to sign up with an online survey company that has a good reputation. If you want to get paid, that’s the only secret.
How does online surveys work?
It’s quite straight forward. You sign up and wait for a notification by email for a survey that is ready for you. Then money should start coming in.
How do I get paid for online surveys?
There are different ways to get paid for online survey. Some survey programs pay in cash. The cash programs are preferred by many people. Other programs pay in products. If they are products that you use or that you would like to try, then these are the programs that will work well for you. People will usually target online surveys that pay for money because that’s what everyone want in the end! The payment method is usually a check.
What are your thoughts, are online surveys a scam?
My impression with Online Survey jobs is that only a minority of the people make money with it. There’s a lot of websites online trying to sell you online surveys and I think most of them are crap and there for the money. Easy money is always attracting but remember there’s no easy money. Even with online surveys you’ll have to put a lot of efforts into it to eventually make substantial money. If you want to try it, go ahead, but make sure to sign up with a reputable company. In the end, it’s like any other money making opportunity on the Internet: Some make 2000$ a month and some make 0$ no matter the efforts they put into it. So be careful.
