Scams, science, whatever.
2008 Disaster predictions taken one by one
Thanks to a loyal DCS reader for pointing this website to me: Great Dreams. This website is a never ending list of dreams and prophecies. You can literally spend a year reading all information on the website. Unfortunately, it ain’t what most of us would call information. While I don’t think it has any pretension of being 100% accurate, there are really a lot of random stuff out there! I came across an interesting list of potential disasters/predictions for 2008 and let’s have a look:
- 2008 will be a year of shocking news and large explosions with a serious increase of earthquakes and volcano eruptions. (Feb and Aug 2008)
- Shocking news, large explosions, earthquakes, volcano eruptions. February’s now gone and I don’t recall such terrible events. Let’s get back to this one in August.
- Expect a full restructure of the internet.
- What’s a full restructure of the internet? I mean, I’m in the computer industry and a FULL RESTRUCTURE is impossible. There are certainly changes coming up, but guess what: It’s called technology. Technology constantly evolves and the Internet evolves faster than any other technology, it’s no news to anybody. Important changes will be needed in the coming years to ensure the Internet continue to evolve, but a complete restructure of it is just a random thought.
- Total restructure and merging of many television networks.
- Is total restructure a new buzz word I’m not aware of? I wouldn’t be surprised to see merging of a couple of television networks but that’s just business. We can say that with companies in general: 2008 will be a year were many companies will be merging together. That was also true in 2007 and will be true in 2009 as well.
- More action with UFO and new planets discovery
- Planets discovery is a sure bet, the universe is full of planets we are not aware of and we discover new planets every year. As for UFOs, we have to make sure they exist in the first place.
- Merging of many airlines and terrible explosions/accidents
- My comment on merging of many television networks also applies here, it’s called business and it’s a possibility.
- Terrible explosions and accidents? It happens every year, I agree 100%. It’s just not a prediction, it’s a sure bet.
- A full restructure of the US economy is ahead and the reinstitution of the draft will bring much more death with children in Iraq.
- Restructure again. US economy is not going very well right now, but a full restructure I’m not sure. It’s the same type of comment we saw with the “Full restructure of the internet”. Changes yes, modifications yes, but fill restructure is just too big. Communism maybe?
- Tremendous medical (heart) and technological discoveries are ahead of us.
- No news here, next prediction please.
- Upsurge in earthquakes in the ring of fire (Japan) Aug/Feb. 2008
- Let’s get back to this one in August.
- The US will experience an upsurge of earthquakes, large explosions and volcanoes activity (July/Aug/Feb 08)
- Same here, we’ll review in August.
- Serious scary news pertaining to nuclear plants and nuclear technology secret deals in the US / Russia
- We’ll see next year, saying no would be the same as predicting something.
- Nuclear accident at sea and/or in land – Feb/Aug 2008
- We’re clear for February. August will be a big month according to this list
- Tremendous planetary action/changes in our Universe
- I thought this was 2012. So now we have 2008 as well. Which year is the end of the world? Pole Shift?
- Death news for many famous people including President Bush, Larry King, and Clinton (Feb/Aug 08)
- Famous people die every year. As for Bush, Larry King and Clinton, it doesn’t mention it will happen to them directly. I’m 95% sure they will face a death news during the year, they know so many people.
- Negative news from France and Italy Aug 2008
- That is vague. There will also be negative news from the U.S., Canada, Germany, Russia, Iran, Iraq or any other country.
- Serious fires and explosions Feb/Aug 2008
- I’m pretty sure this was covered before, it’s the third mention of explosions. Yes, I can confirm, explosions will occur in 2008 and fires will occur as well.
- Many famous people to die of heart attack and suicide in 2008
- Many famous people die of heart attack and suicide every year.
- An upsurge of accident involving children
- That’s vague. Accidents? Death?
- US total financial restructure (Feb/Aug 08)
- isn’t that the same as “A full restructure of the US economy” that was covered before? I think it is.
- NASA full restructure.
- Stop that restructure thing.
After reading this list, I would like to make a briefing of 2008:
There will be a full restructure of the Internet, NASA, television networks, US economy and merging of airlines. Many people will die of heart attacks and suicide, and death news will come for many famous people. Serious fires, explosions, earthquakes and volcano eruptions will also occur. Medical and technology discoveries will be made. Nuclear accidents will occur and nuclear technology secret deals will go on in US/Russia. And finally, important changes in our universe will occur and more children will have accidents.
You’re the judge. While 95% of the predictions are extremely vague and can be related to anything, I have the firm intention of getting this list out in 2009 (If I haven’t exploded in a nuclear accident and I can still run my website because of the full restructure of the internet) and have a look at every point again.
Life Technology’s answer to my Tesla Shield review proposal
I wrote recently about Life Technology’s Tesla Shield and decided to write to Life Technology in the hope of getting a free trial of their product in exchange of a neutral review. By neutral review I mean I would have tried the product for a week with the simple conclusion of: “Yes it worked” or “No it didn’t work”. That’s the only way I thought possible to get a free trial because they wouldn’t hand me one if I was to kill their product. Also, I don’t really want to “kill it”, I just want to provide the world with a good review and just state if it works or not. Then, everyone can draw their own conclusion. I was just really curious to try it out.
That would’ve been one of the first review of this product as there doesn’t seem to have a lot online. Even if it’s not one of my objective, a review from Daily Common Sense would’ve given them a little bit of visibility and no matter what the conclusion of my review was, I thought it was a fair deal for everyone. So here’s their answer:
Dear Ben,
Thank you for your enquiry.Unfortunately we would be unable to offer you a free trial of our product.
However we do have an independent review which you may be interested in at http://shadowboxent.brinkster.net/TeslaShieldReview.html.
Thanks and best wishes
Life Technology™SPECIAL OFFER. ABSOLUTELY FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING !
As a gesture of thanks and goodwill we would like to offer you absolutely free domestic and international shipping on your purchase of The Tesla Shield™. To take advantage of this special time sensitive offer visit www.lifetechnology.org/teslashieldoffer.htm
This special offer is transferable so please feel free to forward the special offer link to your friends or family.
Anyway, my conclusion is that they avoid getting reviews for their products by pricing the device at nearly 200$. Independent reviewers don’t want to pay that amount of money for that device. People buying it at 200$ on the opposite are totally convinced that the product works and will definitely see the product working event if it doesn’t without making any bad comments. I think they’re scared of people reviewing it because that could kill their business.
The link they provide as an independent review is definitely not a review! It’s nothing like this thing work or this thing doesn’t work. If they provide it as their official independent review, something tells me that it’s not that independent after all!
I just thought I would share it with you. Trust me, if I get my hand on one, I’ll review it for you.
2012 Logo Campaign – Help fight 2012!

One of Daily Common Sense’s mission is to inform people. My most popular article is my article about 2012 and why it shouldn’t be feared. It eventually got divided in a series of 3 more articles about poles shift and planet X. I’ve received a lot of comments and positive feedback from the community and I think it’s time to go one step further about that 2012 scam. People are extremely scared and I received confidence from people who couldn’t sleep at night or go to work because of 2012 and the fear of not making it further than that date. I feel extremely good about the fact I helped so many people get on with their lives and this is all because of proper information. That’s what Daily Common Sense is about.
Now, I provide you with a couple 2012 logos you can use freely. You can resize them if you want to fit your needs but please don’t modify them because I would like them to be official 2012 logos. If you have a suggestion for a logo you would like to have, drop me an email and I will check with you. Use them on your blog, forum signature, MSN avatar, Facebook or whatever.
If you want to link the logo to my article, feel free to use the following link: 2012 explained – Why it shouldn’t be feared
Use them so that people can reach a good level of knowledge about 2012, I’m sick of hearing stupidities about this date and with the power of the community, we can fight!
Spread the word!

Tesla Purple Energy Shield Scam
Here’s today scam. It’s another great product aimed at healing yourself and regulating the energy around you. This amazing product is brought to you by Life Technology and is really one of the best scam I’ve seen lately.
What is it?
I would like you to have a look at these quotes from Life Technology website to understand what the Tesla Purple Energy Shield is all about:
Life Technology™ are priviledged to have been given exclusive access to some of Tesla’s papers and with the assistance of a US electronic engineering company, we have been able to update and upgrade the original design of The Tesla Personal Oscillator. The final product, The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ combines the original Tesla principles of harmonic oscillation and design considerations with sophisticated state of the art electronic componentry.
100 years after Tesla’s original invention of The Tesla Personal Oscillator, Life Technology™ have created The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™, a device whos uniquely synergistic effects are profoundly more powerful and effective than the original Tesla device.
The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ outer shell is made of aluminium, which is first anodised (electrolytic oxidation) and then colored. The spin of the atoms and electrons of the aluminium is thus changed in such a way, that The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ is said to vibrate in resonance with the fundamental energy (Chi, Prana, Orgon) of the universe. The Tesla Purple Energy Shield™ coating was developed by Ralph Bergstresser after a patent and from the knowledge / information and ideas of Nikola Tesla, with whom he worked in the 1940s. With anodising, the field of the plating is changed and interacts with tachyons. The surface of the plating has a unique crystal-structure.
The chemical composition of the outer purple shell is the same as that of rubies and sapphires, which also consist of aluminium oxide. We know that rubies give energy and thus were called “life-stones” in the Middle-Ages.
Amazingly, the Tesla Purple Energy Shield can be used for:
Protection against EMF and electromagnetic radiation , Increases energy levels, Heals on all levels of mind body and soul ,Delays fatigue, Increases physical strength and stamina, Enhances quality of sleep, Retards aging, DNA repair, Completely clears negative energies, Acts as a 24/7 psychic shield, Energises food and water, Beneficial energy for animals and plants, Improves intuition, Assists connection to the divine source, Increases psychic abilities, Enhances meditation and prayer, Facilitates ascension, Increases synchronicity, Enhances manifesting skills, Facilitates astral projection and lucid dreaming, Use as a pendulum in chakra and aura balancing, Use as a transmitter pendulum in distant healing, Use as a tuning pendulum in radionics, Use as a pendulum for radiesthesia and dowsing.
The Scam
This does remind me of a certain Alex Chiu. Yes, that guy selling Immortality rings. When I look at the list of what the Purple Energy Shield can do, I’m amazed of seeing “Retards again, DNA repair, assists connection to the divine source, facilitate ascension, etc.” At least they won’t say that will make you immortal, but for the price you pay for this little gem it would actually be nice.
The Price
The Tesla Purple Energy Shield come in different versions:
1. THE TESLA PURPLE ENERGY SHIELD™ ORIGINAL VERSION @ $199.95.
2. THE TESLA PURPLE ENERGY SHIELD™ ULTRA ADVANCED VERSION 1.0 @ $249.95. Incorporates Upgraded Internal Componentry.

You’ve read correctly! 200$ – 2000$! That is amazing. But everybody will agree it’s the price to pay to get a Hyperspace radionics zero point stargate project eye of the horus 1.0 device!
What a scam.

Alien bible found…and translated
I came across an interesting article located here: Alien Bible Translated. Once again, total nonsense at its best. Fortunately, it comes from a “fake” news website. I find it reassuring as it looks totally fake and that’s the purpose of the website. The real danger is that I realized people are actually believing this, without even checking where the news was coming from. Here’s a summary of the article:
WEEKLY World News sources have confirmed that a professor at Webster University — the birthplace of the world-famous English dictionary — is in possession of a book that was printed on another world. What’s more, the thick volume isn’t a cookbook.
“It’s an alien bible,” said 41- year-old linguistics professor, Dr. Emmanuel Johnson, whose skill with foreign languages has earned him the nickname “Magic.” “And wait till you hear who their god is!”
Back in his library, Dr. Johnson opened the container.
“Being whacked against the foreman’s head had loosened the top,” Dr. Johnson said. “It popped right off. I began to wonder if, in fact, that was how the aliens opened containers on their world. If so, they must have suffered brain damage over time.”
Inside, Dr. Johnson found a small, thick book. The cover illustration showed a constellation that bore the unmistakable likeness of Oprah Winfrey. Stunned, he opened the book, which consisted of multicolored, cloth-like materials. The writing glowed when the professor looked at it.
“It was an illuminated manuscript,” Dr. Johnson explained. “I was immediately able to translate the title, which is called Their Eyes Are Watching Me. The book was comprised of two sections: A Sacred Alien Testament: Written and a Sacred Alien Testament: Oral.”
“The Oral Testament actually speaks to the reader,” Dr. Johnson revealed. “Naturally, it talks in the authoritative but reassuring voice of Oprah.
“It begins with a section called ‘Syndication,’ which encourages aliens to do good deeds on other worlds, including the Earth,” Dr. Johnson continued. “We suspect that the alien visitors who owned this bible were missionaries, members of Oprah’s ‘The Angel Connection.’ It instructs acolytes on the basics of worship, including the use of something called ‘the remote.’
Please, we really have to stop that kind of things as it makes every UFO believer lose credibility. I know it’s fake news, but people are sadly actually believing this. I know it’s a small majority of people, but that’s too much.
I particularily enjoyed: “The cover illustration showed a constellation that bore the unmistakable likeness of Oprah Winfrey.”
Anyway, I thought it was a funny article, but unfortunately, some people believe it.
FBI is in your computer
Still while browsing today I came across this interesting post:
If you can adequately outline what this program does, please email me, X@X.com. The entire program runs 41 single spaced pages, too large for here, but I’ll gladly upload entirety to all takers. I believe it is evidence of illegal FBI data harvesting from ALL Windows based computers as this log was generated from a computer never on the internet. Notice it also mentions ‘CIA section’. I’d also guess this is part of the US government TIA program, outlawed by Congress but nevertheless initiated by the current bunch of rats at the helm….let me know.

In that situation, FBI stands for File Based Installer and is packaged on HP computers. I believe that’s mostly how 99% of conspiracy theories get started. Sure, FBI would clearly name their programs running on your computer “FBI”. They are that stupid.
Where is this world going…
Stop breathing, Oxygen is bad for you.
Don’t worry too much, Oxygen is good for you. It’s just that I’ve read a post today on a forum and it goes like this:
PURE AIR THEY TELL YOU IS GOOD FOR
DON’TBREATH IT IN
THE FACT IS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN THAT CARBON IS BETTER FOR YOU THAN OXYGENIn a new ground breaking discovery SCIENTIST FOR THE FREEDOM OF MAN have found that we have all been conned into breathing oxygen from birth, this didn’t used to be the case.
It is the master plan of the globalists through their modern science dillusions , they setup hospital care when the babies are born they take them and flood them with oxygen through a mask and rinse out THE NATURAL BREATHING OF NATURAL MAN AND REPLACE ALL THE CARBON MONOXIDE WITH A POISON WE KNOW AS OXYGEN
I KNOW THIS SOUNDS FAR FETCHED BUT ITS LIKE GETTING SOMEONE HOOKED ON SMOKING- EVEN THOUGH THAT IS FAR SAFER.
THEY HAVE SETUP MASSIVE TANKS IN OUTER SPACE AND HAVE BEEN FLOODING OUR ATMOSPHERE WITH THIS POISONOUS SUBSTANCE – OXYGEN SINCE 1827.
Do I really need to comment on that? Does that dude know carbon monoxide will kill you if you breath too much?
This is really one of the funniest story I’ve heard recently. Why would someone get you addicted to Oxygen instead of carbon monoxide? It’s not like we pay for Oxygen…
How come conspiracy/scams websites are all Web 0.1?
This is truly amazing. The more respect you seem to gain is in direct link with the ugliness of your website when it comes to conspiracy/scams website. I say web 0.1 because it seems so far from the web 2.0 websites we see today. I mean how do they plan to get respect from rational people with that kind of web design? You just don’t feel it’s an honest website!
You just have to search for “2012″ in Google for example and you’ll see the ugliness. The worst thing is that these websites are appearing on top Google search results, which means they have some sort of reputation. It’s the same story whenever I get on a conspiracy theory website.
Alex’s Chiu’s website is the ugliest thing I’ve seen in my entire life. When you search for “Conspiracy” on Google, the first result is http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/ and once again it confirms the theory. India Daily is ugly as hell also and I could go on and on.
I feel better now…
Alex Chiu Super Chi Flush ‘healing feeling’ scam
I wrote before about Alex’s Chiu’s immortality rings and Gorgeouspil. If you read the article, you’ll notice the guy is completely crazy and selling amazing crap to people. I was just browsing around and I noticed a new product from Alex Chiu. It might not be new as maybe I just didn’t notice it the last time, but it’s one more crazy product. After the immortality rings and the eternal beauty pills Gorgeouspil, here is “Super Chi Flush”.
What the hell is Super Chi Flush?
Super Chi Flush’s herbal compound is strong enough to break the toughest clogs in your body. It will send Chi energy into any area of your body. Super Chi Flush will allow you to feel healing throughout the entire body. You will feel constant healing for the entire healing session. (around 2 hours) So you can enjoy 2 hours of very strong and noticeable ‘healing feeling’ every night at your most critically blocked area.
Super Chi Flush fights the toughest clogs in the body slowly opening up the blockades which hindered the flow of Chi energy. The end result is that the entire body’s Chi flow will eventually be unclogged. Could this mean that all handicaps, tumor, herpes, cancer, etc. will all be flushed away by Super Chi Flush? No medical claim, so you decide.
Super Chi Flush is green-food powder that contains only natural herbs. Absolutely no side affect. Super Chi Flush does not work without Gorgeouspil and the Immortality Rings.
Direction of use: Dump 3 teaspoons of Super Chi Flush powder into half a cup of cold or warm water. Mix well. Drink it along with Gorgeouspil 20 minutes before you go to bed for healing.
The Price
It cost 24$ for one month supply or 48$ if you buy it with a bottle of gorgeouspil!
The Scam
God this is one more amazing scam from Alex Chiu. The beauty here is that he’s saying the product doesn’t work without Gorgeouspil AND the immortality rings. This is such a failure because the immortality rings give you eternal life, the Gorgeouspil gives you eternal beauty and healing power, then why the hell do you need to be healed if you have eternal life? I mean for me immortality ring means I don’t have to bother about health anymore.
He’s not that dumb, he thought about it:
The Immortality Rings re-align and regroup your body faster than it ages. Therefore it is believed to reverse the aging process. But if you have a serious handicap or a giant tumor, the rings alone cannot cure you.
Well followed by:
Could this mean that all handicaps, tumor, herpes, cancer, etc. will all be flushed away by Super Chi Flush? No medical claim, so you decide.
In the end, you’re screwed.
Anyway, just thought it would be nice to point this out.
How to Avoid Internet scams
I’ve seen numerous persons being scammed on the Internet and it always surprised me a bit. I agree the Internet has changed the way we think and no longer do we need to leave our homes to go shopping or find the information we need. We can surf the net and shop from the convenience of our homes. But with this has come some risks. There’s risks when you shop, when you sign up on a website and even just when surfing the Web.
Number one trick – Spyware and virus
Spyware is computer software that is installed surreptitiously on a personal computer to intercept or take partial control over the user’s interaction with the computer, without the user’s informed consent.
Spyware are installed on your computer just by browsing the Web without you knowing. These spywares then gather informations about what you do with your computer, like what sites you visit, what do you search for, etc. It is very important to get rid of those as it’s a pure and simple invasion of your privacy. The same way, you have to avoid viruses. You’ll get infected by viruses usually by downloading something from an unsafe website.
How do you prevent spyware and virus ruining your Internet experience? Simply get a good Spyware remover and an Anti virus. Don’t want to pay for it, but still want the best tools? Get the Google pack! With Google pack you get a free lifetime version of Norton with a free spyware protection tool, it’s definitely worth the download! And it’s a safe download from Google…Download it with this link button:
Number two trick – Be a safe buyer
It is important you buy from reliable websites. There’s obviously websites you can trust buying from like amazon.com, apple.com, etc. but what about less known sites? Before buying always do a search on Google for reviews on the website you want to buy from. There’s a ton of websites actually collecting customers’ feedback about their purchase online. If it’s a reliable website, you will most likely find information and reviews on it. You’ll be able to read about other persons experience and take a decision.
If you buy on eBay or similar online auction website, always make sure the person you buy from has a near 100% positive feedback.
Number three trick – Pay with paypal when you can
Paypal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. It serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as cheques and money orders. PayPal performs payment processing for online vendors, auction sites, and other corporate users [...]
When you can pay through Paypal, do it. If you don’t know how it works, it’s pretty simple: You give your credit card or account information to paypal and then you can pay other persons/companies through Paypal. It’s actually like if you were paying Paypal and then Paypal giving the money to the seller. This way the seller never get you credit information, only Paypal has it. Paypal is really safe and is the most used payment service on the Internet. It’s actually owned by eBay so you can use it with confidence. This is a nice way to avoid your credit information being spread all over the Internet.
Number four trick – Get information
Never sign up for anything without knowing the website reputation. Whether it’s for a work at home website or anything like that, make your own research with Google before giving any personal information. If it’s a scam you’ll find about it and if it’s not you’ll also find out. It’s really easy. There’s tons of forums out there and Google is your best friend!
Happy safe surfing!
NASA confirms there’s no Planet X or precursors of terrestrial calamity
Thanks to Chris once again for pointing this out. There’s an interesting post on NASA’s website Ask an Astrobiologist and here it is:
Question:
I have something that may sound ridiculous to write to you but I need to ask you. My friends and I were talking today and they told me that on May 15th, there will be a comet passing the earth, not hitting it, but its gravitational pull will stop the earth from spinning cause all these things to happen and the earth will flood and there will be earthquakes and stuff. This may sound ridiculous but it would be appreciated to get a response back.
Answer:
Don’t worry, these rumors of catastrophe are not true. For months, weird stories have circulated on the Internet predicting the close passage by Earth this month of a Planet X sometimes called Niburu, or in some versions it is a giant comet or asteroid. The simple answer is that these are pure fiction. There is no such object. Also, there have been no unusual levels of earthquakes or solar flares or any other of the supposed precursors of terrestrial calamity. Contrary to what you see on some of these websites, nothing unusual is happening and scientists are not worried by such supposed events. Even more to the point, it is already evident that there is no large comet or looming planet bearing down on the Earth. If you want details on these stories about Nibiru or Planet X, check out the following website http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/planetx/index.html.
David Morrison
NAI Senior Scientist
It pretty much says it all and it’s nice to hear it from a Senior Scientist at NASA. You’ll tell me of course NASA wouldn’t say a huge calamity is at our doors as it’s a government agency. But I can tell it’s just one more confirmation that there won’t be something such as the end of the world in the next couple of years or in 2012. If you’re a first time visitor of Daily Common Sense I encourage you to read on the subject:
2012 Explained – Why it shouldn’t be feared
What is that pole shift thing?
Planet X Explained – Why it doesn’t matter that much
Red Planet Land – Mars Real Estate scam
First I’d like to thank Chris, a Daily Common Sense reader, who found the Red Planet Land website. It’s really awesome and hard to believe but it does exist. You can visit the website and have a look for yourself but it’s basically a Mars real estate website. That’s true, you can buy a 1 acre land on mars to secure your future. Ridiculous.
For about 35$, you get 1 acre of land on mars and the full package you see on the picture which is basically a certificate, facts sheet and a picture of mars. I would personally feel bad selling this to people. The real question is how could someone even think of buying this, thinking it’s true?
Why would anyone pay 35$ for a piece of paper that has absolutely no legal value and that you won’t be able to use? The NASA is trying to have a Man-made mission to Mars by 2037, which means it will take a really long time before regular people like you and me can make it to Mars! The owners of this company will be dead by the time we can go to Mars (If one day we can…) but until then they cash-in!
Another good scam I guess…
Man walking on mars is a rock
If you don’t know about it, the Spirit rover sent on mars by the NASA has taken a picture that shows a ‘humanoid figure’ on it. There’s been a lot of comments on the subject going in different directions and NASA has provided the full image zoomed-in and we can clearly see that this is a rock. Here are the pictures:

Ok, so this is clearly a rock and not a man or statue. As the NASA said:
“It’s a two-inch piece of rock eroded by the wind” explained NASA spokesman Dwayne Brown.
At two inches, I don’t see it being anything else than a rock. When you look at the zoomed-in picture you might have doubts because it’s so close and the figure really look like someone. When looking at the whole picture, you realize the humanoid figure is too small to be anything else than a rock. On top of that, it took three days for the rover to take that complete panoramic image(the lens moving slowly across the scene). The figure doesn’t move during that name so it’s definitely not any kind of life. A statue? A two inches statue…maybe not.
Sorry but it’s not today we’ll prove there or there was life on mars!
December 2012: end of the world? – 2012 Explained – Why it shouldn’t be feared
2012 is a business
Before you read this article, here is a video I recently recorded about 2012 and how people build businesses around it to make money. While a lot of people say that you can’t trust NASA or the government because they would certainly hide this 2012 stuff from us, I say there are a lot of people who want to spread this because they make money out of it. So, in the end, who do we trust? Watch it, I think that explains it all, but still, read the article and all the comments for more information.
What is 2012 about?
The year 2012 is referring to the last year of the Long Count Maya calendar. The current Great Cycle, as the Mayas call it, is set to end on the winter solstice of 2012: December 21 2012 and many people believe that on that date, the world will change and never be the same. Some predict terrible events resulting in the destruction of our world and some predict that it won’t necessarily end, but that we will enter a new era and massive changes will occur.
This article will try to answer most questions you may have in a rational way. because there are way too many websites creating some sort of fear propaganda around 2012 and as you will see, you have nothing to be scared of.
There’s too much disinformation going on about this subject and there’s an article you can read that was published around 1990 that reminds me the current situation:
What will happen on December 21 2012?
Quick answer: Nobody knows, but probably not much.
There have been a lot going on regarding the 2012 prophecy recently, including the movie “I am legend”, but surprisingly, not much information about what is really supposed to happen on that date is available. This is Probably because nobody knows and also because probably not much will happen. Most information available about 2012 is making reference to mass destruction of the world as we know it, earth’s pole shift/magnetic field reversal, Nostradamus predictions, end of Mayas calendar, etc.
The base of all the predictions is the end of the Maya calendar in 2012, which is supposed to mean the end of the world or a period of radical changes. In fact, the end of the Maya calendar is known as the end of the Great Cycle. People find it easy to believe in that theory because Maya civilization is known for advanced writing, mathematics and astronomy. It can seem like they really know what they’re talking about, but the truth is that the end of the Great Cycle is not the end of the world, it’s in fact a great celebration for the Mayas:
For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle” says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is “a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.”
From USA Today
On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years(Milky Way is one of billions of galaxies in the observable universe. The Galaxy has special significance to humanity as it is the home galaxy of the planet Earth). This special alignment means that the usual energy that typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 2012 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time. Scientists are actually in great doubt about the fact that the Mayas even knew what they were talking about.
Astronomers generally agree that “it would be impossible the Maya themselves would have known that” says Susan Milbrath, a Maya archaeoastronomer and a curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History. What’s more, she says, “we have no record or knowledge that they would think the world would come to an end at that point.”
From USA Today
Putting apart scientific data, here are the commons beliefs of the December 21 2012:
- Galactic Alignment. This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000, this is considered as the end-date in the Mayans Long Count calender. It is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator.
- A comet hitting Earth (Nostradamus)
- Read my article on Nostradamus to discover the real truth about Nostradamus: Nostradamus is not a valid argument!
- Earth’s Pole Shift/Magnetic field reversal
- Read my article on pole shift to discover the real truth about 2012 and pole shift: What is that pole shift thing and What is that pole shift thing part II
- Increase of calamities, natural disasters, mass destruction, etc.
I don’t want to repeat myself, but all of this is very vague as nobody really knows what will happen and the world is not at its first doomsday prophecy. There have been a lot of “Unfulfilled” prophecies in the past and you can have a look at this Wikipedia document for a list of unfulfilled religious prophecies.
What I find quite interesting about the 2012 theory is that there’s not much publications from well respected scientific organizations. NASA has published a couple of articles about the pole shift, but nothing else that could reveal a certain fear of the end of the world. Now you could argue that “big organizations” certainly wouldn’t reveal anything that has to do with the end of the world, but that’s another debate.
2012 conspiracy theory
I mentioned in the “What will happen” section that there’s a lack of scientific information coming from well respected sources like NASA. Some people claim there’s a conspiracy theory behind the prophecy to hide it from the public so it doesn’t create mass panic. Now, this does and doesn’t make sense. At first, it sounds like it could be true because I totally agree the government could restrain publications from the NASA as it’s a governmental agency, but I find it weird that this kind of information wouldn’t “leak”.
Do you really think something as big as the end of the world wouldn’t leak from any agency? Keep the NASA apart, do you really think the scientific community would miss something as big as that? When there’s no scientific data about a subject, you really have to doubt.
You’ve probably read a lot of information on websites from people claiming they know more than they should know and that the government is hiding all this information from you. Government is hiding a lot of things from you, more than you probably imagine and they would probably try to hide the end of the world if it was going to happen. But, let’s picture this: The Mayas were there 1000 years before Christ which makes it about 3000 years from now. Do you think someone could hide the end of the world for 3000 years if it was really going to happen and was really that possible and scientific?
I have my doubts.
Pole shift/reversal, the only 2012 end of the world possibility
The only rational “2012 End of world” possibility is actually pole shifting. A Pole shift is a rare phenomenon and is characterized by the north and the south poles swapping places. Such reversals, recorded in the magnetism of ancient rocks, are unpredictable. They come at irregular intervals averaging about 300,000 years; the last one was 780,000 years ago. I wrote an article on pole shift that explains the whole process, have a look: What is that pole shift thing?
Such event could really disrupt our planet that’s true. Imagine the North pole and South pole swapping places: Telecommunications, animals, humans, etc. would all be affected and it would be a really important change. There’s only one thing you need to consider… I’ve read in a lot of different places that a polar shift is going to happen on December 21 2012 and it is totally false:
Polar shift is a process that roughly takes 5,000 years to complete and doesn’t start on a specific date and time. The real truth is that nobody knows when the next one is due.
The process takes time and another myth wants the earth’s magnetic field strength to be near zero during that transition time. It would actually be as strong as it is now but simply a lot more complicated. Once again, it is explained in my What is that pole shift thing? article.
Will I die on December 21 2012?
I can’t tell, the Mayas can’t, Nostradamus can’t and the aliens can’t. On December 21 2012, a comet won’t hit the earth, a pole shift won’t happen instantly and a massive gravity burst won’t happen either. The only thing you can fear is a pole shift and it can take up to 5,000 years to complete…
What if you’re wrong?
In the case that I am wrong, that every scientist on this planet is wrong and that the NASA can’t figure out a simple galactic alignment that would put our world to an end then I guess we are all in the same situation. You, me and everyone will die. Scary isn’t it? Well, no one can tell what will happen tomorrow or in 2012.
Hope you enjoyed
I hope you enjoyed reading on the 2012 end of the world prophecy and that you are looking at it in a completely different way. Post your comments and come back to Daily Common Sense for more scam debunking.

Did we walk on the moon?
I must admit that even if I’m not a big fan of conspiracy theories, I’m still very open minded and the moon hoax looked really plausible to me. So, did we walk on the moon? Or was it filmed in some studios?
Anybody that actually read about the moon hoax know that it’s extremely confusing and really not easy to determine if it’s true or false; there’s just so much information going in random directions. But I found three websites that I think are really satisfying about proving the walking on the moon is probably real and not a hoax. As I’ve said a lot in my previous articles, it’s easy to determine if a story is plausible or not: If there’s enough scientific data backing it, it’s probably true (As long as it’s reliable sources). If it’s unknown people with arguments hardly backed with proofs then it’s mostly a hoax. I searched a lot on the moon hoax and didn’t find any satisfying answers about whether we really walked on the moon or not until I discovered three websites going point by point over what’s usually contested about the walking on the moon. Here are the three sites I’ve found that rely mostly on scientific data and are quite logical with their answers:
