Space elevator: Go into orbit
Posted by: | Comments
From cnn.com : A new space race is officially under way, and this one should have the sci-fi geeks salivating.
The project is a “space elevator,” and some experts now believe that the concept is well within the bounds of possibility — maybe even within our lifetimes.
A cable anchored to the Earth’s surface, reaching tens of thousands of kilometers into space, balanced with a counterweight attached at the other end is the basic design for the elevator.
It is thought that inertia — the physics theory stating that matter retains its velocity along a straight line so long as it is not acted upon by an external force — will cause the cable to stay stretched taut, allowing the elevator to sit in geostationary orbit.
The cable would extend into the sky, eventually reaching a satellite docking station orbiting in space.

Galactic Federation
Posted by: | CommentsToday, in my daily search for scams, I found a real gem! I ended up on a website called The Nibiruan Council and the amount of crap you can read there is quite amazing. Let’s start with the introduction just to give you a brief idea:
Welcome to the official website of the Nibiruan Council, a multidimensional off-world council whose members are connected to the planet Nibiru.
The Nibiruans’ mission is to prepare humanity to take their rightful place in the greater galactic community.
Jelaila Starr is the Nibiruan Councils’ messenger and channel. Through her articles, workshops, and lectures, the Nibiruan Council’s message has touched the hearts of many people around the world inspiring hope and understanding.
What? A multidimensional off-world council whose members are connected to the planet Nibiru? Yeah right, the planet that is still to be found.
Guess what? The website sells books!
For a special prive of 89$ you can get two “awesome” (feel the sarcasm here…) books:
We are the Nibiruans
Learn about Earth, the Nibiruans, our galactic history, starseeds,
walk-ins, how to recode your DNA and much more.
The Mission Remembered
The Nibiruans reveal their work to prepare for 2012. Discover the galactic events whose final days are being replayed on Earth between now and 2012. Learn what you can do to alter these events and prepare for 2012.
Ok, so learn about Earth, the Nibiruans, our galactic history, starseeds, walk-ins, how to recode your DNA and much more. Did I just read how to recode your DNA? That’s correct, DNA reprogramming. Learn how to do in in the confort of your home while watching T.V.! Totally ridiculous.
Wait, there’s more crap
We learn on the website that there are five races in the Galatic confederation:
Felines
The Felines are one of the two primary races in our universe. They arrived here by invitation of the Founders. Having successfully completed their Universal Game and completing their universe, a group of 45 Felines volunteered to come to this universe to help setup and oversee the same game here.
Humans
he Humans are the youngest of the four primary races in our universe. They were first created by the Felines on a planet in the Vega star system of the Lyra constellation.
Carians
The Carians are a race of birdlike Beings. At their most evolved state, the ruling class of the Carians resemble humans with eagle-like features and coloring.
Reptilians
The Reptilians are the creation of the Carians, their parent race. They evolved on a planet in the Alpha Draconi star system of the Orion Constellation. The royal line of Reptilians are the Draconians, the winged dragons.
Nommos
The Nommos are a race of Beings that takes the physical forms of dolphins, whales, mermaids/mermen. Their home world is a planet in the Sirius star system that is mostly warm aqua-blue water.
I could go on and on
Ok, so I really could go on and on with that as there’s an incredible amount of information on this website. I shouldn’t really call it information as it’s not what it is. It’s just an incredible amount of false stuff to help sell books. Hope you laughed a bit!
2012 galactic alignment: hoax
Posted by: | CommentsI said it numerous times and I wrote plenty of articles stating 2012 is a complete scam. A DCS reader posted a link to NASA’s “Ask an Astrobiologist” website and it deserves some attention. Here is the question/answer:
Question
Hi, i have a question about the sun alignment in the center of the galaxy in 2012. Will the sun be in the EXACT center of the galaxy? or just lined up/next to the center of the sun. If you can, can you explain this to me. (15 years old) Thank you very much.
Answer
I can’t explain it because it is just an Internet hoax. There is no alignment with the center of the Galaxy in 2012 or any time. As to the Sun being in the center of the Galaxy, that it impossible; the Sun and solar system will always remain at about 30,000 light years from the galactic center. These stories on the Internet are simply lies, and I am sorry if they have been a problem for you. A lot of the stuff on the Internet is wrong, and you have to learn to distinguish the truth from the lies. One simple test is to ask if any of these claims are made by real scientists, or if they have been reported in newspapers or on TV news. The stories about alignments or disaster striking in 2012 do not pass this test.

Hope this clears a couple of things. I know some people will say you can’t trust the NASA, blah, blah, blah and I don’t care that much honestly. One thing I’ve learned from that 2012 thing is that you can’t argue in a logical way and there will always be people to scare the shit out of you no matter how logical your argumentation is. There will always be people to tell you to “open your eyes”, get out of your “perfect world”, “conspiracies are all around you”, etc. With over 600 comments on my 2012 article, I’ve seen the discussion going into many directions and I can say this thing will go on until 2012 because new scams will surface every day. And guess what? In 2012 we’ll be talking about 2016, then 2020 and so on.
Incredible pictures of Mars
Posted by: | CommentsDailymail has a really nice article about the most detailed photographs of Mars ever taken:
Scientists have released some of the most detailed photographs of Mars ever taken.
The pictures, which were snapped from a European Space Agency (ESA) probe, show a region of the Red Planet called the Echus Chasma.
The deeply-incised area is a network of valleys that planetary geologists believe were created by channelling groundwater that once flowed on Mars’ surface.
You can read the rest of the article, but more importantly watch the other pictures over here:
The Earth’s axis DIDN’T shift
Posted by: | CommentsSummer Solstice is near and theories are flowing about the axis shift. The sun is too far north, the sun isn’t setting at the proper place, etc. I wrote a previous article about the Earth’s axis shift, just stating that it was completely nonsense to think that the axis of rotation changed but now, I would just like to provide a simple everyday life example of why it doesn’t make sense.
This example is called satellite T.V. I’m sure you know roughly how satellite T.V. works and that the antenna at your home as to be in direct line of sight with the satellite of your satellite T.V. provider. It does make sense, if you want your antenna to receive signal, it has to be in line with the satellite, otherwise it doesn’t receive any signal. Trust me, it’s not something roughly aligned: moving your antenna of a single degree can make a difference. Now, if you want to be able to communicate with the satellite day and night, it has to stay in the same position. How is this achieved? Well, that kind of satellite is called a geosynchronous satellite:
A geosynchronous orbit is simply an orbit that allows the satellite to remain apparently stationary above the same location on Earth.
In order for a satellite’s orbit to remain stationary above the same location on Earth, the satellite’s orbital period (the time required for one complete orbit) needs to equal the Earth’s rotational period - one day. Because the satellite orbits at the same rate the Earth rotates, the satellite remains stationary above the same longitude on Earth.
In addition for the satellite orbit to be truly geostationary, the orbit must not be inclined to the equator. Otherwise the satellite will oscillate in a north south direction above the same longitude.
Just like that:
So that’s why you are able to stay connected with the satellite at all time. Now, remember when I said moving your antenna of a single degree would make a difference, well now imagine if the Earth’s axis would shift! The Earth does move, but not the satellite. There aren’t any physical bindings between the Earth and the satellite which means your antenna is no longer pointing toward the satellite. So if you are still able to watch satellite T.V., the Earth’s axis is the same.
Also, it is ridiculous to think it wouldn’t have important impacts. Just the length of days would be different! I strongly encourage you to have a look at this video as it’s pretty good to understand the basics:
I hope it cleared it all!
Zeta Report, Aliens and Nancy Leider (She’s crazy)
Posted by: | CommentsRemember Nany Leider from the website zetatalk.com? Well she’s crazier than I thought. In the following video, she talks about aliens on other planets and how they look different from us. In fact, they are either insects, mammal or reptiles. How does she knows? Well she met them. Stupid question hey?
Can you watch this without laughing?
The Sun revolves around Earth: It’s getting worst
Posted by: | CommentsThis is taken from a post on a certain forum (I want to preserve anonymity):
The Sun has no atmosphere such as Earth, science says the Moon orbits because of the balance between inertia and gravity, constantly falling but never falling, understanding this, the Earth would crash into the Sun because the Sun has no atmosphere, the massive gravitaional pull of the Sun would have already crashed the Earth in it.
The Sun and the Moon are the same size, this why an eclipes looks perfect! If they were different sizes one would attract the other due to gravitational pull and collide, but if they are equal, they counter each others pull.
If the Earth did spin, WE would all be dizzy by now?
According to you’re science the sun and stars are the same, therefore they don’t move, Earth moves around the sun, hence, where ever the planet is around the sun, we should not be able to constantly see the constellations, there would be a point were the Earth would be on the other half of the sun and Earth would only be able to see the constellations coming around the bend. But that’s not the case is it!
If only for that single post, school is important. Oh, and the Earth is flat by the way! Why does everything has to be a damn conspiracy? The Earth revolves around the Sun, end of the story. Then what, other planets from our “solar” system also revolves around Earth I guess? Oh, and if the gravitational pull of Sun is too big meaning we would crash into it, do you really think the gravitational pull of Earth would be strong enough to keep the Sun revolving around us? That would mean comparing the Sun with the Moon in a certain way…In fact, that’s what the guy says: the Sun and the Moon are the same size!
Anyway, I don’t even know why I’m arguing.
2012, Olympics and Aliens
Posted by: | CommentsJust when I thought I had seen everything about aliens, 2012, numerology and all that stuff, I found this article called London Olympics 2012 : Zion (The New Jerusalem)
I mean, have a look if you are interested in linking 2012, the Mayan calendar, aliens and 11:11 numerology all together. It is an interesting read but definitely failed to convince me. In fact, if you read the article, they lost me when starting to link the whole thing with numerology and particularly 11:11.
NASA to Announce Success of Long Galactic Hunt
Posted by: | CommentsHere’s a little something from the NASA website:
WASHINGTON — NASA has scheduled a media teleconference Wednesday, May 14, at 1 p.m. EDT, to announce the discovery of an object in our Galaxy astronomers have been hunting for more than 50 years. This finding was made by combining data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory with ground-based observations.
Personally can’t wait to see what it is. I just thought I’d share with you. And no, I don’t think it’s planet X.
Link it to UFOs, no matter what
Posted by: | CommentsIndia Daily posted an article regarding last week’s NASA findings about the Earth’s magnetotail. You can have a look at my last week article about this for more information. I was reading their article and I thought that for once, it was a “normal’ article not filled with BS. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The article is not too long so I’ll post it here:
Scientists are baffled with the data from NASA’s Lunar Prospector spacecraft, which recorded big changes in the lunar night side voltage, jumping typically from -200 V to -1000 V.
Every month, around the time the moon is full, it gets hit by Earth’s magnetic tail. As a result of the moon’s contact with the large ”plasma sheet” of hot charged particles that are trapped within our magnetic tail, scientists say, the night side of the moon climbs to hundreds or even thousands of volts in energy. Further, there is growing evidence that in such a period, the fine particles of moon dust actually begin to float because of electrostatic repulsion.
Because the moon could encounter the plasma sheet many times during a single pass through the magnetotail you can imagine how dynamic the charging environment on the moon is.
The bigger question is who created the dynamic charging environment on the moon?
many scientists now believe the anomaly can be explained by strange extraterrestrial bases in moon. Many scientific think tanks believe that US and Russia avoided moon since 1970 after they found evidence of extraterrestrial bases in moon.
Now, I want to point this sentence: The bigger question is who created the dynamic charging environment on the moon?
And then, this conclusion: many scientists now believe the anomaly can be explained by strange extraterrestrial bases in moon.
Ok, so this really doesn’t make sense. First of all, nobody created that dynamic charging environment on the moon, it’s just something that happens for scientific reasons! I mean, we could go on and on with that kind of arguments: “Who created magnetism?”, “who created electricity?”, etc. It’s not something that is created, these are phenomenons that can be explained by science and are the result of a complex interactions between molecules/atoms. You can get an explanation of the dynamic charging of the moon on the NASA’s website, just follow the link at the top of this post.
That kind of conclusion was of course to find a way to link the aliens to this story. That’s pure India Daily, link it to UFOs, no matter what.
Let’s make a recap of what’s going to happen in 2012
Posted by: | CommentsI was thinking about 2012 and all the doomsday prophecies linked to it tonight and I started to make a recap of all the events that are supposed to happen. It’s when you do that recap that you understand properly nobody know what they’re talking about. Here’s the list of 2012 events:
- Pole shift
- Magnetic pole reversal
- Planet X getting near Earth or hitting Earth
- Meteor hitting Earth (Thanks Nostradamus)
- Planetary alignment leading to a major gravity burst with Earth being swallowed by the center of the galaxy.
- New dimensions opening
So basically, in 2012, the Earth’s axis of rotation will be modified, the north and the south pole will swap, Planet X will hit Earth as well as a meteor, the Earth will be swallowed by the center of our galaxy and new dimensions will open giving new possibilities to humans.
That is assuming all the events are happening at the same time of course. But you know, when there’s just so many possibilities, to me it just sound nobody know what they’re talking about. It’s the same as saying: “Something will happen in 2012″. Come on. All these events don’t even make sense when put together and can’t physically happen at the same time.
Make one single credible theory and I’ll start listening, but until then…
The Moon and the magnetotail
Posted by: | CommentsNASA has published an extremely interesting article about still unknown phenomenons happening on the Moon when it goes through Earth’s magnetotail. NASA says the Moon is not as static as we previously thought:
“Earth’s magnetotail extends well beyond the orbit of the Moon and, once a month, the Moon orbits through it,” says Tim Stubbs, a University of Maryland scientist working at the Goddard Space Flight Center. “This can have consequences ranging from lunar ‘dust storms’ to electrostatic discharges.”

WR-104, a threat to Earth?
Posted by: | Comments
What is WR-104?
Mainly taken from wikipedia, with irrelevant parts taken out:
WR 104 is a Wolf-Rayet star located 8000 light years from Earth. It is a binary star with a class OB companion. The stars have an orbital period of 220 days and the interaction between their stellar winds produce a spiral “pinwheel” outflow pattern. WR 104’s rotational axis is aligned within 16° of Earth. This could have potential implications to the effects of WR 104’s eventual supernova, since these explosions often produce jets from their rotational poles. It is possible that WR 104 may even produce a gamma ray burst (GRB), though it is not possible to predict with certainty at this time.
What is a WR star?
Wolf-Rayet stars (often referred to as WR stars) are evolved, massive stars (over 20 solar masses), and are losing their mass rapidly by means of a very strong stellar wind, with speeds up to 2000 km/s. Wolf-Rayet stars are a normal stage in the evolution of very massive stars, in which strong, broad emission lines of helium and nitrogen (”WN” sequence) or helium, carbon, and oxygen (”WC” sequence) are visible.
What’s the matter with WR-104
The problem with WR-104 is that it is possible for a Wolf-Rayet star to progress to a “collapsar” stage in its death throes: This is when the core of the star collapses to form a black hole, pulling in the surrounding material. This is thought to be the precursor of a long gamma-ray burst(GBR for the rest of the article). That ain’t really a problem itself, the real deal is that the Earth is in the sight of that star and a GBR could possibly be aimed at Earth. Consequences of a GBR hitting Earth are mainly related to global impacts on the biosphere and climate-change triggered by the large dose of radiation.
So the GBR would be pointing at us?
A GBR is not like a laser beam with a clear target. It’s true that the Earth is in the line of “possible” danger, but we have to take in consideration how wide is the GRB. WR 104’s rotational axis is aligned within 16° of Earth and a typical GBR is about 2-20° wide. So, we are not in the comfort zone, but Earth is not a clear target. Remember that we deal with such big distances (8,000 light years), so even 0.1° can make a huge difference in terms of distance. In space, close to Earth can be considered as thousands of kilometers, so we have to keep that in mind.
When will it explode?
I’m not going to lie here just to please people: We don’t know when it is going to explode. Peter Tuthill, professor at the University of Sydney have studied the case since the star was discovered in 2000 and suggest that the star will explode within the next few hundred thousand years. Here’s what he officially says:
The WC spectrum Wolf-Rayet component of the binary should explode sometime within the next few hundred thousand years. To an astronomer, this is the last known stable phase in the life of these massive stars, and it could go anytime. I know of no way to predict this more accurately. The other component, the supergiant O/B star, likely has a much longer fuse than this, and for the rest of this discussion I focus mainly on the WR component.
The WC spectrum analysis is the analysis of the star’s helium, carbon, and oxygen emission. By analyzing this spectrum, you can determine at what stage or phase the star is in. As Tuthill says, it’s the last known stable phase in the life of these massive stars and it could go anytime.
What if it explode?
Well, if it explode tomorrow, we’re safe. The star is 8,000 light years away from Earth and one light year is the distance the light would travel in one year, which is extremely far. So, with gamma rays also traveling at the speed of light, we are looking at 8,000 years for a GRB to hit us. We are safe on that point.
What if it already exploded?
The problem is that when we look at the stars we look back in time. If the star is 8,000 light years away from us, it means what we see now is what the star was looking like 8,000 years ago. So, if the star can explode at any time with the data we have and it’s 8,000 years old data, the star could have already exploded right? Yes, I’m not going to lie to you about that. This means if the star exploded 7,999 years ago, we would know next year. We would know in the case that the burst hit us and it’s very unlikely.
What are your thoughts?
Honestly, I will sleep tonight and you should do the same without worrying too much. Like Phil Plait from badastronomy.com said:
So if it’s less than 10,000 years from exploding and if it blows up as a GRB and if it’s aimed at us and if there isn’t much junk between us and it, then yeah, we may have a problem. But that’s an awful lot of ifs.
There’s way too much ifs to conclude on a theory. It could explode tomorrow, in two hundred thousand years or have already exploded. The GRB might hit Earth as it might not at all and there’s lot of stuff in that 8,000 light years distance that could interfere. The theory is not strong enough to clearly say we are 100% safe and it’s ain’t defined enough to conclude on something. There’s way too much things to worry about in this life, don’t worry about that. Trust me WR-104 is one of the star we know of but there are possibly other stars that could pose a threat to Earth we are just not aware of. I’d say worry about your everyday life, not what’s happening 8,000 years away.
So, is it debunked and we’re safe?
It’s not debunked like the 2012 theory is. I feel confident enough to say you won’t see that GBR in your lifetime, but space is very complex and we have a lot of surprises ahead of us. It’s not worth to worry about WR-104, but it’s a nice thing to be aware of.
