Daily Common Sense readers know I’m usually debunking scams and I don’t agree with most conspiracy theories. Something I haven’t wrote about so far on Daily Common Sense is the 9/11 World Trade Center conspiracy theory. Why? Well, I don’t feel comfortable enough to provide a yes or no answer about the theory. And I still don’t. From the first time I saw the towers collapse I kind of knew there was something wrong. The way they collapsed didn’t seem to agree with the most basic laws of physics but at the same time I’d like to believe it was perfectly normal. I came across a video today simply by browsing the web and I think it’s quite interesting. I don’t want this post to be a “9/11 was an inside job” post because we simply don’t know but I’d like you to have a look at this video. Feel free to leave your comments whatever your beliefs are about the 9/11 World Trade Center attack, I’d like to hear everyone’s opinion on that one as it’s a really interesting debate.

I have done my homework. I have reached a conclusion. 9/11 was the biggest lie of modern times. Only a thin veil of psychology prevents the average person from discovering the truth.

When I saw the towers fall on live television that day I immediately “knew” that there were explosives planted in the building. I’m not an engineer but I’m not a moron either. I walked around for days asking when they were going to announce that the terrorists had the buildings rigged with explosives to facilitate the plane crashes. When the announcement never came it was like, “Duh!” Most Americans are sleepwalking through life. Come on people, wake up!
I love conspiricy theories as much as the next man BUT I gotta say I just don’t buy into the 11/9 (sorry, we put the day then the month here) conspiricy.
I reckon the most plausible explanation is that a bunch of twisted extremists mother f*ckers flew a bunch of innocent people into the buildings killing thousands. I gotta say I think the explanation is that simple.
I watched the whole thing unfold live on TV like most of the World and nothing felt odd about the way the towers collapsed. Seems they were just not designed to have a Boeing slam into them.
Sep 11 2001 was a horrible horrible day. Not just for Amercians but for all people who hate to see innocent people die and our way of life threatened.
Like all major historical events of the 20th/21st Century, people are quick to jump to conspiricy theories (insert Nostradamus quote here) but in this case I truely think the most simple explantion is the most likely. Planes + buildings + airline fuel = big hurt.
And yes, I’ve read many of the theories too and seen the documentaries. And no I’m not pushing any political agenda. This is my personal opinion.
Good subject, though. And like all conspiricies, I’m open to changing my mind given the evidence.

I don’t know how any logical person could watch the video above (as well as some others out there) and not have some sort of doubt? At least question the investigation and some of the findings a little bit. People that question the official investigation are always labeled as crackpots, or conspiracy theorists, but never as people that think “hey something doesn’t add up”?

Quite funny Dave, I didn’t know it was so easy to annoy people a create some controversy. As I said in my post if you read it, I think the video is interesting and worth watching. I mean people have provided valuable opinions here as to what their beliefs are about it and I think that’s what we have to do.
I don’t recall saying I was 100% believing the theory, I recall saying the physics of the building crashing brought some doubts to my mind. I guess I’m just open minded and open to discussion, that’s how we go forward…
I think in this situation, like anything, truth becomes relative. If you wanna see detonators you will. If you wanna see a plane smashing into a building making it fall down, you will.
I still struggle with the concept that enough explosives could be placed in the WTC to bring it down without someone outside the conspiraacy getting suspicious. Keeping secrets is hard. Especially when you involve the amount of people that would’ve been needed to pull off this ‘planned detonation’.
I stand by the terrorist theory (probable fact). Evil Religious sickos destroyed the WTC when they declared jihad on innocent people. Its not ‘blind patriotism’ (I’m not American, anyway) that brings me to that conclusion. It’s based on the evidence that’s before us. it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that if you fly a Boeing into a building, chances are you’re gonna waste that building. And believe me, those terrorists are no geniuses.
I love reading people’s differing opinions on this matter. What never surprises me is that those that believe (or say they believe) the governement’s narrative almost always mention emotional things in their reasoning (death, innocent lives, lunatic murderers, remember the fallen). Speaking as a psychology professor, I can tell you that whenever such emotion is integral to one’s reasoning, one is NOT being reasonable. Just some food for thought. As you continue to investigate this matter, watch for the emotional responses from people. It’s fairly predictable. And one more thing… I teach at a major American university in the southeast–if you are interested in college sports, you undoubtedley are aware of our school. None of the professors in our engineering department who have looked at the data believe the government’s story.
I think its funny how people jump to the conclusion that you share the opinion that the video is trying to convey. The fact that these people are upset at you and implying in anyway that you are a skeptic just goes to show that they aren’t really even reading your post. I understand that this is not necessarily your take on 9.11 and I agree, it is a great video. I, like you, don’t really know which way to go with it but it is thought provoking nonetheless. I first came across your work when researching the 2012 “Armageddon”. Please keep up the great work and I will continue to read with great interest.

Yes, and the buildings DID take the impact of both planes and continued to stay standing strong. What caused the collapse was the heat of the burning jet fuel. The structure of the buildings weakened and they collapsed. This is why the buildings APPEAR to collapse just like they would have if there were explosives being detonated.
And do you really think explosives would have survived the impact of the airplanes? What about the massive heat? Think before you say your stupid and irrational thoughts.

I dont think 9/11 was a conspiracy. For several reasons.
1. If a missle hit the Pentagon, then why in the living hell did it produce a small hole, and why were there charred aircraft remains?
2. The impact thoes 757′s produced were massive. They could have weakened the towers to the point where they couldnt take a whole lot more punishment, which the fire provided. Yes, I know it didnt melt, but it had to of produce more structual damage in some way shape or form.
3. There is actually a website that has point by point rebuttles of EVERYTHING stated in the loose change movies. Look it up on google, Im not shitting you!
One thing i will never understand is, how in the world the third tower(CIA building) collapsed just like that. All it had is fire in one or two floors. No building ever had a free fall like that before or after 9/11, owing to fire in one or two floors. Even 9/11 commission have no clear reason for the collapse. That is absurd at best.
Klye – 9/11 was a conspiracy because it was done by more than one person; that, by definition is a conspiracy. The question remains as to with whom the conspirators were conspiring.
How the buildings collapsed or were collapsed is also a question.
I am much more interested in the psychology of the 911 attacks in comparison to other attacks committed by other or the same terrorists. The attack on the USS Cole, the African embassys, the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, the first attacks on the WTC in the early 1990′s, etc.
Hi Ben, good topic. It’s sad that people are so offended by the notion that those buildings may have come down with some inside help that they revert to name calling and accusations of being anti-American. This is one blog post which seems to be fairly balanced, hence my comment.
I prefer to ask whether the points raised by people like Jeff King have been addressed in the official investigations or not. From what I understand, they haven’t. I hear people like Klye above say that all these “theories” have been debunked, but why weren’t they debunked by the official investigations?
The 9/11 Truth movement is pressing for an independent investigation to answer all the questions that haven’t been answered. I think that’s a great idea, and I’m surprised the majority aren’t supportive of this. An investigation into these alternative theories should end all the speculation and ridicule.
A.) It is impossible for jet fuel to weaken steal of the grade used in the WTC construction. Look into all the other high rise fires before you promote such a farcical claim.
B.) What singed wreckage at the Pentagon? Ho do you figure 5 dozen tons of plane could vaporize leaving…well…What wreckage? If it vaporized, why are their desks, computers, and cable reels visible and unscathed on the ground in front of the pentagon? Why is their a hole burrowed three rings deep into it?

As a note, I found it so funny as tent cities (search tent cities, You Tube, Los Angeles) started springing up as a result of the manufactured collapse of the American Economy, people still fly that flag outside their dwelling, which is now a mobile, if their lucky, a tent if not so lucky, and plastic wrap for the truly unfortunate.

It seems a bit strange that a majority of the populace continues to believe our government would not LIE to it’s subjects; would not do anything that would harm, maim or kill it’s subjects. It is a fact that if you are told something over and over you will believe it to be true whether it is or not.
In the WTC 9/11 incident: we have been told by many top engineers, and metallurgists who have done vast amounts of studies; and explanations have been presented which are supported by physics; that the WTC buildings collapsing was much more than the planes that slammed into them. Yet there so many that still believe that our government officials are relaying to the populace an accurate account of events that caused the buildings to collapse.
First: It appears that there was considerably more studies and research performed by individuals that are acknowledged as some of the top in their field. And the reports that were given in these studies seem considerably more plausible than what the government is trying to get us to believe. Yet there are so many that continue to absorb the facts as explained by the government. This is called mental conditioning and has been going on for decades. It has been introduced to us at such an early age that we are conditioned to accept the things we are told by our government, are things of truth.
To every plot there is an expected outcome. What is it that was accomplished through the tragedy of the WTC demolition project?
Our government has taken it upon themselves to implement changes to our structural judicial system, side stepping around constitutional laws and giving unto itself additional powers that are being used more as a means of control than a means to protect. The government is taking from us Liberties in the pretense of security. The government is telling us these measures are for our own good whether we think so or not. We are being forced into a national ID system with the initial plan of ID chip implants, that retain for reference considerably more information than just your ID. The government is engaging in the use of illegal wiretapping in the pretense of security and telling it’s subjects “It’s OK, we’re the government.” They monitor e-mails also, proclaiming the same authority.
I find it very difficult NOT to believe there’s a conspiracy in our government that reaches into the International realm.
Through history there are many records showing us that governments can establish and maintain control of it’s subjects by controlling their commodities, whether it be food, fuel, or money. Also, by government controlling passage of it’s subjects within its borders.
Liberty is the people having control of governmental powers; not the powers of the government controlling the people.
Why hasn’t the government officials proclaiming to us that it was all just a terrorist plot been subjected to the same scrutiny as they are imposing. If there is a cover-up of a real conspiracy against the people at the WTC, why is it not being pursued, and the people involved being investigated as possible terrorists and performing acts of treason against this country.
There are so many, that through mental conditioning, believe that our government is the controlling power over this great nation. This great nation “IS” supposed to be the controlling power over our government. We have been conditioned to believe what our government tells us to be true.
Look around people; who is really responsible for our energy situation; or our inflationary economy. We have our money controlled by a Federal Reserve System that is not any part of our government; and by design was initiated to not only control our money’s but to provide for individuals outside of our government to have that control.
We are lead to believe that our income tax system was derived as a means to support the costs of our governing bodies and to provide a means to pay for any debts our government accrues. Our income tax system, by design and implementation, came in like a thief in the night. There is NO possible way a government could every pull itself out of debt if all it’s money’s have to be borrowed from an outside source and paid back at face value PLUS interest. And what is face value? Is it the amount of dollars imprinted on those Federal Reserve Notes? Blacks Law Dictionary describes a note as to having five separate things to be a legal note; 1. When the note was written; 2. When the note can be redeemed; 3. Where the note can be redeemed; 4. To whom the note is redeemable to; 5. What the note is to be redeemed in; e.g. dollars, cows, nuts, apples, BS. The Coinage Act states that “a dollar is 412.5 Grains of Standard Silver”. It does not say it is a piece of paper that someone wrote “This note is Legal Tender for all debts public and private”. But yet another branch of our judicial system ‘The Supreme Court’ has ruled that a note is NON-TAXABLE until it is redeemed. This alone should have put questions in the minds of the populace as to the legalities of these non-redeemable Federal Reserve notes.
Here is another tidbit of info; Title 371 USC states “No court shall except anything as payment for debt but gold or silver coin unless voluntarily tendered” It appears the courts know what is real and what is not. But empowered with this knowledge does the courts divulge this when requesting payment for debt?
It has come the time that WE THE PEOPLE take a stand against TYRANNY and POLITICAL control of the masses. Oh, by the way, if you DO take a stand and demand your rights as set forth in the documents that laid out the foundation for this great nation; are you then classified as a terrorist, or maybe a radical militant? 8. 9/11 was immediately declared an “act of war” by President Bush. The rubble from
Ground Zero was carted away and the steel sold off without examination.
9. Enormous profits were made by insiders on plummeting stock prices of the two
airlines involved in 9/11-–American and United. Federal law protects their identities.
10. Accepting victims’ compensation barred 9/11 families from further discovery
through litigation.
Could go on for days with HARD evidence, but in the end IF the government wanted to completely discredit these kinds of discussion they could have simply released the hotel CCTV tapes that clearly recorded the side of the Pentagon that was hit on 9/11. They’ve released 9 still frames…

I am not here to discuss this topic; if you are foolish enough to think the big bad government is out to get you and would do this; then all the power to you. As for your claims; I would just like to clarify:

…All aircraft were not grounded; and the USAF did infact successfully scramble fighter jets; but the process requires time; which unfortunately they did not have. The air traffic control tower does not have clearance to confirm a hijacking; they are simply to direct the flow of air traffic; in order for the USAF to be alerted to the threat; the airline company and the airport must concer that it is a hijacking in need of military assistance; then, and only then can fighters be prepped and launched; a process that can take up to 20 minutes or more. Since the world was at peace; very few bases in North America were armed on standby; and so aircraft would need to be fueled up and equipped with weapons; no easy feat. The USAF was airborne on September 11th, as was the 410 Cougar Squadron from the Royal Canadian Air Force; but there was not enough time to respond.
4. Building 7, a 47-story skyscraper and part of the World Trade Center complex, was
not struck by a plane but collapsed in 6.5 seconds at 5:20 p.m. on September 11th, in
the exact manner of a controlled demolition.
…in a controlled demolition; there is distinct bangs heard from the detonations; approximately one second apart; usually at least four of them. These were not reported; therefore no detonations could have occured. When detonations take place; the force of the explosion propells the air inside outwards at a high rate; creating a shockwave that tears through the surface; this was not witnessed by anyone; and therefore, no detonations could have occurred.
Firefighters as well as eye-witnesses did infact witness the tower 7 take considerable damage from the collapse of tower 10; which can be cleary seen on the videos. This damage was reported by firefighter crews as impacting the first few floors; and punching a hole nearly 2/3 deep into the building, putting the strain of the entire building's weight on the remaining 1/3 of the support structure. Reports from firefighting and emergency response crews concered that the collapse was inevitable; and the structure failed; causing it to collapse; the testimony of the emergency response units; as well as civilian eye-witness accounts exactly matches the physics of the structural failure. There is no conspiracy here.
5. There was no visible airplane debris where Flight 93 supposedly crashed in
Pennsylvania-–only a smoking hole in the ground, much like a bomb crater
…..95% of Flight 93 was collected; including signature markings of the plane that could identify it. The crater was larger than that of the dimensions of the aircraft, making it more than plausable that it was responsible for the crater. There was also cratering that occured from the wings; this cannot happen in the case of a bomb; which does not look anything like the crater that was left behind. You can look up the photo of the crater to see for yourself what it looks like; it's clear that you haven't actually seen it. Testimonies from the eyewitnesses also concer that it crashed in the field; and the local civilians were the first to the seen. Their testimonies state that they saw much wreckage of a plane; comparable to that of a large airliner; as well as the charred remains of bodies; the photos of which were not released to the main stream public for sensativity reasons to the victims and their families. The same occurred at the Pentagon. The photos are available to view.

….Jet fuel can actually burn at up to 1800 degrees F., and infrared heat signatures confirmed the temperatures of the fires at their peak in the WTC to be near this temperature. At 1800 degrees F. steel loses over 50% of it's structural integrity; it did not need to melt; but become weak. A blacksmith did not need to bring the steel to melting point in order to fold the steel to forge it either. The steel failed due to the temperature; it did not melt. This is consistent to the collapse of several buildings worldwide.
7. Tests have shown that cell-phone calls cannot be made at altitudes over 4000 to
8000 feet, as cell towers are located on the ground. Commercial airplanes fly at
30,000 feet and above. No passenger could have successfully placed a call for help
by cell phone from an airborne plane on 9/11, as reported.
….no such tests have taken place. Airliners do not permit the usage of cellphones on airplanes because of the chance of interference with the controls. All modern airliners are controlled electronically; with the joystick inputting a signal to an onboard computer; should the cell phone interfere, the pilot might not have control. Tests have been done in air to confirm that at above 4000 feet, cell phones do not interfere with controls; but not to determine if they work. Many cellphone towers in Canada are located well over 4000 feet away from users who have absolutely no problem with reception. I live in Canada; and the closest tower is several miles away; no problem with reception, nor is there ever problems when I am in the air. Many airliners around the world do infact permit cellphone usage in flight as these tests have proven no interference. Cellphones are used above 4000 feet all the time.

….Bush declared an act of terrorism to be an act of war; and several investigations took place at ground zero. Many of the crew involved in cleanup were infact professional cleanup crews from professional demolisions. When a building is professionally demolished; there is remanents of detonation chord; blast caps from explosives and blast shields that are required to detonate steel structures (which also would have been visible from the street before the attack occured); no such remanents were recovered by even a single person. There is no possible way to cover up a professional demolision; the evidence is clear in the debris. The debris was thoroughly investigated as it was cleaned up; and there was no evidence of this. Case closed.
9. Enormous profits were made by insiders on plummeting stock prices of the two
airlines involved in 9/11-–American and United. Federal law protects their identities.
….it is clear that you have no understanding of the stock market; and how this affected it. Stocks fell within hours from the attacks; no profits were made from this. The only profits made were from conspiracy based movies that the gullable public were naive enough to purchase.

…it should also be noted that Mr. Jeff King is NOT infact an MIT engineer. He has experience as an electircal engineer, but has nothing more than a combined Biology-EE major. He is not an engineer, and his claims are heavily flawed; and have no basis in physics. I have worked with concrete; and have seen it demolished. When falling from the heights of the WTC it will disintegrate into powder more than it will from an explosion; which blasts chunks out of it through creating faults by sheer force. His theories are nothing more than those of an amatuer, as this is all that he is.

Part of debating is having the intellect and maturity to maintain an open mind as well as considering the posibility that we may not be correct in our believes. I don’t think that any American doesn’t think the events of 9/11/2001, were horrific or that it changed our life.
I have seen many things for and against a conspiracy theory of the events of 9/11/2001. But when I watched “Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup”, I came to believe that I don’t think that the Twin Towers and building 7 of the World Trade Center came down by impact from jumbo jet airplanes, or that, Flight 93 got completely destroyed without any trace of its existence or the passengers aboard on impact. Popular Science posted articles completely debunking all the 911 conspiracies, try using common sense when thinking about why would the govt killed over 2000 people, fuck up the economy, and cause resounding damage to the airline industry? to go to war with Iraq? what benefit is received? would there not be an easier way to go to war with a terrorist organization than killing that many american's? First, not ALL conspiracies are theories (otherwise a real conspiracy would never have existed throughout all of history—and the word “conspiracy” would likely never have been coined, as it would denote nothing), and secondly, not ALL theorists are tinfoil-hat wearing kooks (see Albert Einstein). Some of you sheeple out there, who spend all of your free time watching Dancing With the Stars and drinking Pepsis after work, better wake up and smell the Sanka that’s brewing, before you find yourself in a FEMA concentration camp, after martial law is enacted immediately following another state-sponsored, false-flag, synthetic “terrorist attack” (or is enacted after the slightest gestation of “civil unrest”), and the Executive Branch puts into effect its myriad of “executive orders”—all of which result in a fascist, Hitlerian dictatorship. It it impossible for the twin towers and WTC7 to collapse is the into its own footprint. If as NIST says it is the fire that melted/softened the steel trusses which eventually gave way and the whole floor collapsed, it would happen on the side of the building that took the hit from airplane. What are the chances that both building collapse in the same manner. We should first experience wobbly kind of collapse.
I really like the way you have framed the request for people to enquire for themselves, without saying either way "just have a look". I will be using a similar strategy from now on, as when you say "this is proof!" it just sets off alarm bells in people's minds. Indeed, for me, it is self-evident – the NIST explanation does not make physical sense, but amazingly so many people simply refuse to consider any other possibility… even highly decorated, rational thinking scientists. Amazingly too, they take this stance while deliberately avoiding all evidence to the contrary. I've met plenty of them!
Can you tell me why there was absolutely NO video footage of the plane hitting the Pentagon? I imagine the Pentagon must have video camera surveillance of the building. So why no video?
