I have something that may sound ridiculous to write to you but I need to ask you. My friends and I were talking today and they told me that on May 15th, there will be a comet passing the earth, not hitting it, but its gravitational pull will stop the earth from spinning cause all these things to happen and the earth will flood and there will be earthquakes and stuff. This may sound ridiculous but it would be appreciated to get a response back.

Don’t worry, these rumors of catastrophe are not true. For months, weird stories have circulated on the Internet predicting the close passage by Earth this month of a Planet X sometimes called Niburu, or in some versions it is a giant comet or asteroid. The simple answer is that these are pure fiction. There is no such object. Also, there have been no unusual levels of earthquakes or solar flares or any other of the supposed precursors of terrestrial calamity. Contrary to what you see on some of these websites, nothing unusual is happening and scientists are not worried by such supposed events. Even more to the point, it is already evident that there is no large comet or looming planet bearing down on the Earth. It pretty much says it all and it’s nice to hear it from a Senior Scientist at NASA. You’ll tell me of course NASA wouldn’t say a huge calamity is at our doors as it’s a government agency. But I can tell it’s just one more confirmation that there won’t be something such as the end of the world in the next couple of years or in 2012. Haha its good to see NASA doing there job. Considering they also have over 3 million dollars a year that pours into there "Ipact" program which monitors the skys 24/7. AND in the likely event one became a threat we have the necessary means to take it out. NASA even confirmed and i quote that anything (planetary, comet, or asteroid) is a threat that we can control 100%. In 2004 over 2/3 of any nearby objects had been discovered even as far as in another galaxy. By 2008 over 90% of all things will be accounted for. As of right now nothing is anywhere near orbit. And coming with todays technology I don't think anything on that level is going to harm. To be contrary take this in. Look up global warming and you will be shocked to know that the earth is actually getting healthier than what it was even 5 years ago. While energy is becoming more abundant and healthier along with renewal you can see there is a bright future. To top it off, our space program is phenomenal, with emergency standby systems and the ability to whipe out anythig that comes even hundreds of thousands of miles within are planet, its amazing what can be done. Sure the gov't keeps secrets but they want to live like we do. The things they keep from you are in fact safe. Sure there is some twisted stuff but nothing as fearful as a comet, planet, or asteroid otherwise. Over 5,000 objects are in there database under constant watch. To bring it to the light take a good look and think for one second. By knowing what we know and taking control of more threats like this, the earth going back into a more healthier state (and please the abnormal wather is normal, and the pole shift is normal) it can make you wonder what will the end the earth? In some ways I think it would take more than comets, or planets to whipe are planet out. The only thing honestly to take are current world out would be a god or the sun going into a red giant. We won't be around all we will be is either floating above (depending on what you believe), or we will be peacefully asleep for all eternity. We were asleep or knocked out before all this for thousands of years. Who is complaining then hugh? Again do your research on more credited accounts. Accept it, unless fate wields you a car accident or something of the liking, you and I will have many years ahead of ourselves. Just smile and live everyday out.

Except the solar flares are increasing, and moving backwards, and December 21st, 2012 will most definately be a solar maximum. I’m not saying it’s the end of the world, but I don’t think it’s a very responsible thing for a “NIA Senior Scientist” to disclaim an increase in solar activity, when there most definately is.
I have to agree with you on that one…
from what ive read about this solar max, they are saying it will be second to the one that happened in 1958 in terms of activity, people are still here after that one but communications and power grids will be going crazy through that period. most of the solar particles will be soaked up in the atmosphere, so we'll have nothern lights around the equator, increased risk of skin cancer, and typical uv and radiation stuff. the good news? the next few cycles that follow this one will be calm and relitively weak. {expect some global cooling to take place

oh one other thing, i forgot to add the solar max is predicted to happen bewteen oct 2011 and august 2012 with the highest point in april or may of 2012, if i can dig up the site i saw it on ill post it.
Okay the reverse is normal cause every 11 years it does that and the process take 22 actually to fit. This is all normal for us nothing new. And we have already went through “Solar Maximums” already again nothing new there. This one is no special just do some research

I’m still worried about Planet X’s existence… People claim that the government/NASA are hiding something from us. I really hate the current situation that were in here.
Things like this can’t be hidden. NASA employs thousands of scientists from across the political and religious spectrum, the very idea that every single one of them would toe the line and hide anything they believed to be the potential destruction of the Earth is absolutely ridiculous. Most conspiracy theories make claims that ‘someone’ is ‘hiding something’ regardless of how impossible that thing would be to hide in any real world situation.

Nasa my assa planet x could never pose a threat it may just be in our solar system and solar maxes are always absorbed by the ozone layer which is stronger than it was in 1958
solar activity and te ‘wobble’ are the only things that will happen around then/ you wont even notice them. sheeesh

im not sure if planet x is real or not cuz i aint seen it yet…but i am sure of 1 thing No agency goverment or private would tell the public of such a event because that alone would bring a social and politacal end to our planet long before the real threat got here…they would more then likely deny it to the bitter end until it was no longer deniable then they would play out the hands they were dealt….when u are talkin about somthing of this magnatuide are goverments prioritys change from trying to save us all to saving them selv’s and a few select others to asure the survival of our species

At least NASA Would publish it officialy in their websites, that Planet X is not true so we can assure the answer. If they lied, then we are the first one to bring them to the ground.
lets also remember people, they know how to push our fear nerves into overdrive, i was spooked for awhile watching the youtube disaster simulation clips of asteriods and such i was worried and freaked out. let 911 be a lesson on fear campaigns aswell as the war of terror. most people let the media think for them in fear of being outcast. maybe this world needs to end for a new fresh start . the thought that we scare eachother for profit and power is an indicator that we are not a civilized species or an intelligent one. i must agree with chris above, we are technologically prepped for almost anything. i think its necessary to unlearn the social barriers and fear mongering that our beloved institutions have been using as our puppet strings for decades if not centuries or more. maybe im wrong, if i am then i will finish out my life in love not fear. its easier said than done i hope i can handle it, if not, aurevoir!!!!
